Former NFL quarterback Ryan Mallett, a third-round draft pick of the Patriots in 2011, has died in a drowning accident around Destin, Fla., the Arkansas-based website Deltaplex News reported Tuesday.
He was 35. Mallett was transported from a beach to a hospital, and pronounced dead on arrival, sources told the outlet.

“I am extremely saddened by Ryan’s tragic passing,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said in a statement released by the team “My thoughts and prayers are with his family and the many people whose lives he touched.” “Tough one to swallow,” former Patriots receiver Julian Edelman tweeted. “Thoughts are with the family.”

“I hope I’m a man now,” he said. “I’m 35. That’s halfway to 70. I did a lot of things as a kid. I know how to conduct my business now. “My job is to help shape and mold young people. This is the time a lot of them are finding out about themselves. I hope I can help them.”

Riptides have consequences.
Also, RIP.
I’m curious, why did you post this?
(I often wonder why people post articles and don’t comment on them themselves. Reading their comment helps me understand the importance/relevance of the news item.)
obviously the vax...
I just thought people might be interested. I do remember this guy on the Texans and Patriots. I think he mostly started with the Texans.
The vaccine has been known to turn some people into thalassophiles (love of sea) .. who then die by drowning.
If he tests positive for covid it will be recorded as a covid death
There was an article earlier today about the high number of drownings caused by riptides on the Florida Panhandle the past couple months.
“thalassophiles” — there’s a word for “love of the sea”? How did you know that?
You can count me as a “The Lass O’Phile.”
“How did you know that?”
Like everything else — Googled it :) I actually searched ‘what is love of water called’. A few showed up. I picked that because it seemed relevant to this case.
“The Lass O’Phile”
👍
There have been red flags on all the Panhandle beaches for 2 weeks now. He should have heeded that warning, this didn’t have to happen
Probably because this has been in every news source. For most people, this is repeated news. They just wanted the last of the population to know on FR.
Obviously. Good grief don’t wake up the idiots. They get giddy thinking any death is vax related. The seeth with anger when they find out it was another source.
ROTFLMAO. Too dang funny.
“There was an article earlier today about the high number of drownings caused by riptides on the Florida Panhandle the past couple months.”
Struggling against the rip tide, his vax addled heart and circulatory system just couldn’t handle the added stress.
YES, a vax death.
That’s a bit of a stretch, FM.
Vax or no vax, struggling against the rip tide is a death sentence. You need to get control of your mind, relax, tamp down panic and let the water flow take you out away from land. You can float, go left or right 50 or 100 yards, then let the water flow carry you back to the beach. That, of course, is far easier said than done. Sheer panic usually sets in and takes the poor soul.
