An absolutely dumb question. The answer is in the article:

The kids have found a new way to control their parents and teachers, and to get out of things they don’t want to do. And the parents and teachers are so stupid they are unable to see what is very obvious.
One of my boys was obsessed with cats and liked to pretend to be a cat. He grew out of it and now is just obsessed with computer games. One of his younger brother’s likes to pretend to be a cat. He will grow out of it too.
Kids play pretend and try ideas out, but as they grow up, reality asserts itself. That is unless you have stupid, new-age, relativist adults who indulge them to the point of trying to convince them that they can be a {insert ridiculous pretend identity here}. These virtue signalers are abusing the kids to their own evil ends.
Dunno about that but my cats think they’re human.
Exactly what I was thinking. Single moms indulging kids in order to impress other single moms on social media accounts.

I would claim I am a ferret and demand a hammock in the classroom.
If the teachers and principals were worth a bucket of warm goat snot they would tell the children and their parents we don’t educate animals here, or participate in promoting mental illness. You will have to take your cat/child/mental case elsewhere.
I bet with many kids it's about manipulation -- feeling like they're in control if they make the teachers jump through hoops over something stupid.
What do you think the percentage will be among these unfortunate kids, to grow up to contribute anything meaningful or productive to society?
They’ll grow up to be burdens to those who are productive and do useful, meaningful things with their lives.
I’ll bet little “Kit” doesn’t have her rabies vaccination certificate. Time to wrap her in a towel, stuff her into a crate, and off to the vet for a rabies shot. About the time she’s getting her temperature taken, she might decide that this game’s not really that much fun anymore.

Easy way to put an end to this nonsence. Have a cage of live mice and rats. At lunch time the “Cat People” will be required to pick one out, bite it to death and eat it.
Can’t wait until a young girl transitions into a female dog and requests her teacher refer to her with her preferred pronoun of ‘bitch’.

A lot (60% or more) of the girls wanting to be boys are “on the spectrum” for autism. One of the things with autism is they want to be “special” and stand out from the crowd, but to still be in a group. The trans-cult fits that bill.
I imagine with so many trans-boys out there, the girls are now resorting to being a “cat” to stand out and be special. (I don’t know, but I would bet most of these “cats” are girls. And white, middle to upper class girls - just like the trans-boys are.)
