Love Island has been criticised just one episode into the new summer series, with a race row already brewing.
The ITV2 dating show returned to screens on Monday night for its tenth series with 10 new Islanders setting up home in the Mallorca villa.
Host Maya Jama presided over the first coupling up of the series, which this year saw the public vote on who should be paired.
Some viewers criticised the pairings, with one tweeting: 'The general public cannot be trusted. EVERY year they couple people up together by race.'
Another tweeted: 'Soooo the public decided lets put the 4 white people together, two black together, two mixed race together and the Asian and French together..... sure, love island producers asked US to vote... we didn't vote sh*t.

Gosh. Are people suggesting that voting isn't a real thing? That the outcome is manipulated? Pre-determined by powerful people behind the curtains?

(J/k much of my family is most recently from France and I speak French better than English. Nonaccent. French people think I am from Marseille.)

Same here. This story and this show sucks so bad that it’s funny.
Is that a good thing? I was always able to adjust to the local's argot in France - but Marseille? Absolutely incomprehensible!
Who cares?
Maybe the goal is to have parents paying reparations to their spouse and children. How comical if not so sad.

Not sure. I can tell a Parisian accent like I can tell a NYC accent, but all other French (in France) sounds the same to me.
And my family was from Marseille/Bordeaux.
But it happens all the time.
Next they’ll complain about pairing men with women instead of voting for same-sex couples.
I’ve always suspected that the first French speakers were cast out of their tribe because of speech impediments.
programming of white women to be with black men has been going on in advertising since the 60’s. If one will notice current advertising, this will be very obvious....to those who have the courage to notice it.
It’s a lovely language, excepting Parisian French, which sounds about like a Bronx accent sounds to Americans, I think.
The only prettier language is Ladino, which is a mix of Hebrew and Spanish. Far more fluid than Yiddish, which sounds basically German and harsh, despite my people’s fondness for it. Great insults, I suppose.
Ladino is rapidly dying off. I doubt there will be native speakers in two generations.
While Parisienne French has its detractors, there are even fewer nice things to say about the Quebecois patois.
They don’t even TRY to speak so others can follow.
