Ok...WHY is THIS weekend so violent...Memorial Day??? Do they consider Chicago deaths a “war death” and honor all the dead?

Yes, and Friday they had to close North Ave. Beach shortly after opening it because approximately 100 “teens” started a huge brawl and shots were fired. Chicago is Gotham on steroids.
Summer carnivals held by churches are being cancelled due to the constant threat of violence breaking out at any moment.

As of 8am this morning, 12 dead, 29 wounded in Chiraq.
I think many on this thread (including myself) grossly under-estimated a few things:
1. The complete incompetence of Mayor Brandon in Chicago. I knew he was incompetent, this incompetent is just jaw-dropping.
2. The interim chief of police hasn't a clue. Not a single clue on what it requires to even scratch the surface on reducing the rate of crime in Chicago. To me, that's SHOOT TO KILL the ferals and start sending a message.
3. Those of us who live in HELLINOIS and outside Chicago know how explosive the first warm weekend in the city can be, and all the "pent up killin'" that's been waiting to be done over the winter and through the cold, wet spring we had. Well, here we go!
If we think the summer of 2020 was bad, this one's already shaping up to be worse due to a new, stupid mayor and a stupid interim police chief, neither of which have a clue what it'll really take to restore law and order in that lawless city.
On a related note: Businesses HQ'd in Chicago take note: THIS IS WHY your employees have been refusing to return to the city to work, and why occupancy rates for business space remains below 40% - and is showing signs of falling some more. I refuse to go into that shithole of a city. I'll commute to Naperville and work there, despite it taking longer. At least I have a reasonable expectation of NOT getting shot at.
So what should we expect for murders in Chicago this memorial day weekend, the official kick-off to the "Summer of Love 2023?"
My guess: 26 - 30 by the time it's over.

Looks like Chicongo is working towards a 5:1 wounded to killed ratio.
I guess 7:1 was a bit of a high guess.
