Out-of-control crime in the Democrat-run city of Seattle forced the United States Postal Service (USPS) to pause deliveries to an entire zip code for a week.
Around 900 residents in the 98118 zip code did not receive their mail as delivery services were halted due to mail theft and 'equipment security concerns'.
They were told to pick up their mail from the local post office and stood in long queues of up to an hour while delivery services were paused for a week before UPS lifted the ban on Tuesday.
Thieves had stolen a master key which is used by the USPS to open collection boxes, cluster box units and outdoor parcel lockers.
It comes as Seattle continues to experience rampant crime, drug issues and battles huge rates of homelessness.
Residents who lived in the 98118 zip code claimed they were not told their deliveries were paused and instead found out through neighbors or on Facebook.
'Mail delivery to less than 900 residents in parts of south Seattle was affected last week because of equipment security concerns. Improvements to the affected equipment were made, and all mail was delivered to the impacted residents,' a USPS spokesman said.
'We appreciate the patience and understanding of the community as we work to preserve the safety and sanctity of the mail.'
A sign was posted on a mail container the neighborhood of Columbia which read: 'Due to the rise in mail theft and vandalism we will be holding all mail for your address. We do not have an exact date of when all master locks will be replaced.'
While delivery services were paused, residents were forced to wait in queues of up to an hour at their local postal annex.

Civilized society is falling apart by the day. I feel badly for the good souls who are going to face the worse that is coming.
Sounds like a War Zone.
Sad...near Seward Park...
We were stationed at Oak Harbor NAS on Whidbey Island, WA when I was a little kid. Seattle was a couple of hours away via ferry and we’d go there every six weeks or so. It was really nice back then and my parents loved it.
But then, San Francisco was really nice back then, too.
Mad Max 2. Filming begins in Seattle next month.
Only Seattle show that old I recall is ‘Here Come the Brides’
Bobby Sherman, David Soul
If you’re wondering whatever happened to Bobby Sherman....
Eventually, he left the public spotlight and became an emergency medical technician (EMT). He volunteered with the Los Angeles Police Department, working with paramedics and giving CPR and first aid classes. He officially became a technical Reserve Police Officer with the Los Angeles Police Department in the 1990s, a position he still held as of 2017.
For more than a decade he served as a medical training officer at the Los Angeles Police Academy, instructing thousands of police officers in first aid and CPR. He was named LAPD’s Reserve Officer of the Year in 1999.
Sherman also became a reserve deputy sheriff in 1999 with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, continuing his CPR/emergency training of new deputy hires. Sherman retired from the sheriff’s department in 2010.
The only show that comes to mind from that period is the Mary Tyler Moore show. But it was placed in Minneapolis. Or rather now known as Somaliapolis.
I must have been in GITMO when that was showing. The only TV program we saw was Bonanza.
David Soul who was one of the two “Men From Uncle”.
I think you’re confusing David Soul with David McCallam.
The theme song ‘Seattle’ got some radio air play by both Perry Como and by Bobby Sherman. That’s really how I recall the TV show.
Who wants to bet this is the primarily dark skinned human area?
