May 16 (UPI) -- Police in Florida responded to a beach to round up what appeared to be a large alligator but was soon discovered to be a realistic sand sculpture.
"Crikey! Look at the size of that gator one of our officers tried rounding up on Treasure Island Beach last night," the Treasure Island Police Department wrote in posting a photo of the faux gator to Facebook.
The video shows an officer poking at the tail of the not-reptile, and learning it was actually a well-designed sand sculpture.
"We love the talented people creating works of art in the sand, but with it being turtle nesting season, remember to flatten sandcastles/sculptures before you leave. The sea turtles will thank you," the Facebook post said.
Ping!...................
Spectacular in so many ways....too bad they didn’t send a robot....that would have been a riot....
… they’re not sending their best
Those cops will never hear the end of that.........rubber alligators in the locker room......rubber alligators in the patrol car......rubber alligators on their desks.... rubber alligators everywhere. SMH
Turns out that the bear belonged to my little nephew.
I think the officer is clowning around for the camera. The sculpture doesn’t look that much like a real alligator, plus nobody with any sense would try to grab the tail of a gator that size.
The best I ever heard was when a rubber snake was attached to the emergency brake with a string (on a police car) and left in the parking lot at shift change.
Hilarity ensued, and the black policeman tried to claim racial such and such (after he cleaned his pants out).
These are the people we entrust guns to?
Do sand-alligators come at night and put real alligators to sleep?
“the black policeman tried to claim racial such and such”
I’m surprised that didn’t result in a promotion for the black cop and dismissal for the prankster.
Say your prayers, little one, don’t forget, my son
To include everyone
I tuck you in, warm within, keep you free from sin
‘Til the Sandalligator, he comes
Exactly- from a distance it mighta looked real, but the closer they got=- the more obvious it became it was fake- the following pretty much makes it clear it was for laughs
“”Crikey! Look at the size of that gator one of our officers tried rounding up on Treasure Island Beach last night,” the Treasure Island Police Department wrote in posting a photo of the faux gator to Facebook.”
Cops have done similar on many occasions to try to lighten the mood of the public some
10:1 they went to the wrong alligator address LOL
I’m surprised the cops didn’t shoot it 70 times.
Hopefully they are only being paid with Sand Dollars.
Can’t. Alligators are protected. Dogs are not......................
Lethal Weapon 2?
Here is what I bet happened....
They were called by some Nervous Nelly about an alligator at the beach. They went out there and saw it was a sand alligator and then played around for some pics and posted on Facebook.
It doesn’t seem like they really thought they were pulling on a real alligator after they got there and walked up to it.
In short, a stupid take on what really happened. In other words, UPI didn’t get the joke.
