Wow. This is sad. It was comforting knowing he was still around. His music was my childhood. I remember singing Alberta Bound when I was single digits.

Not a huge fan of his music, but after moving out to Phoenix, I wound up on the Carefree Highway to pick up a large cabinet from Craigslist. I had no idea it was a real road.

One of my favorites was 'Alberta Bound'. He performed it at the Opening Ceremonies of the 1988 Olympic Winter Games in Calgary. According to those who were there, he brought the house down.

I enjoyed his music. For some reason, his Sundown album is what I played to clean house in the late 70s. I could put that on repeat, listen to it all day, and get my house clean as a whistle by the end of the day. I never figured out why it motivated me to be in a cleaning mood.

I need to start doing that again so I can do some major house cleaning. LOL!

However, my absolute favorite song of Lightfoot’s was the “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald”
