A distraught Philadelphia family is living a “nightmare” after their 16-year-old son died within 24 hours of being diagnosed with leukemia.
Kyle Limper died peacefully on April 13 from a blood infection caused by the cancer that was discovered that same day, according to his obituary and a report.
“Before April 13th, he was a completely healthy and happy young man with no sign of illness,” his obituary states. “It just came and took him in the same day.” His father, Ken Limper, told Fox 29 that he initially brought his son to urgent care for back pain after Kyle played basketball before taking him to Jefferson Hospital.

yeah, because Leukemia does that...
The clot shot energizes cancer. people that were in remission but took the clot shot and bingo, they were ate up with it. Just a coincidence . . . maybe.
What a sad story.
May he rest in peace.
May God console the grieving family.
AMEN to your sensitive post.
Yes it does.
Wow. We don’t know the day or the hour. God be with him and his family.
A similar thing happened a couple of years ago to the son of a friend of mine. He was diagnosed with leukemia on one day and died the next.
This was a little different in that the son was somewhat introverted and knew for some time that something was wrong . . . he just didn’t know what. He finally agreed to go to the doctor. Turns out it was too late. He died the next day.
I know a dear person who is now fighting cancer - but it wasn’t caught earlier because of the lockdown.
Bone pain and extreme fatigue is a telltale sign of aggressive Leukemia (also Myeloma) but requires a biopsy for confirmation. Given his age it was likely ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Luekemia), a very aggressive type (and very curable too) which if not treated in time will start proliferating in the bone marrow uncontrollably. Pressure building up inside the bones causes bone pain. Also healthy RBC’s get crowded out causing a drop in Oxygen levels, thus the fatigue. Doc should have ordered a blood test right away. But these no good family docs and GP’s only want to prescribe antibiotics for everything.
Sounds like AML(acute myelogenous leukemia). If discovered late cause symptoms are mild, a serious infection can develop and lead to rapid death. Patient sounds like he is in that class. First doc probably thought patient didn’t fit the profile and didn’t recommend some simple screening test like a complete blood count. Poor kid. He may have been very ill before discovery but his good physical stamina allowed him to perform well, while his innards were being ravaged.
Pt probably presented already in sepsis (overwhelming blood infection) from his defeated immune system. Probably had renal failure also. They only discovered the leukemia as part of the work up of his symptoms at the hospital. Not all that uncommon actually.
An analogy would be like saying a person died withing 24 hours of being diagnoses with atrial fibrillation. Well, actually, they died of the stroke which was caused from the atrial fibrillation that was diagnosed after the stroke happened.
Hard to believe the leukemia wasn’t detected long before the sudden death. Possibly died with?
can the fatal effects of leukemia progress more rapidly than all the other symptoms and routine checkups that normally provide a clue about such an illness?
when will people ever wake up?....
prayers for the family, and friends, peace.
So sad. I want those responsible, to pay for it now, AND into eternity.
Actually it can. I diagnosed a 14 yo in the ER with leukemia and he died a couple of days later.
How terrible for this poor family.
May Our Lord console them and give them peace.
