As best I can tell, they are on The Disability because they hired a lawyer. I only know 1 person who was granted Disability without a lawyer and he got it on the first try. He got hurt at work years ago so they did the paperwork when he got close to retirement.
This is a Low COL area so lots of people are on it because you can afford to live on it but it still almost requires a side-hustle. But you are still being paid to live in poverty and you are most likely to vote for the people who keep you there.
It often does take a lawyer because it is hard for the legit disabled to get on it, but not hard for slackers to,get on apparently, after Obama opened the doors for them. Often there is “back pay” invovled where a truly,disabled person has been suffering financially for years because they couldn’t keep,up with a full time job, yet they kept trying to work because they saw no other alternative, and Hey suffered because of it, physically and financially. Lawyers will negotiate based on issues like that.
But yeah, a lot of people game the system for sure, and th3 gov gets them on it and keeps,them tied to it so,they can keep getting votes like you said.
Lepage in Maine passed a law where welfare people who,were able bodied had to work to “earn” their welfare checks. Wow did he people howl and gnash their teeth. Disability is different of course, but oabama opened the door to many who were perfectly capable of holding down full time jobs, while,making it tougher for truly disabled to keep their disability.
We live is a backerds society today because of th3 insanity of,the left
