That’s just insane. By my high school math, 516 inches equals 43 feet of snow.
“Donner party, your dinner is ready!”
Lived in Tahoe during the 1978-79 season, but the snowfall was nothing like that. Living there reminded me how much I hated snow.
At some point it’s gotta stop. Doesn’t it?
Wow, thanks for posting.
Great party thanks to Phill!
That will equal what? About 7 feet of water coming down the pike soon?
And April is said to be peak snowfall time!
I wouldnt doubt that would increase to about 10 feet of water.
They had better open them dams up and let a lot more out.
Son and his family were there last week. Stuck for several hours, and then shortly after they passed through, I-80 was closed completely. I don’t know for how long but they had a rough trip home from skiing for a few days. They got lucky, based on what I’m hearing.
Great quote. I'll have to use that one on my climate change friends.
The entire state of Nevada from Area 51, to Ely to Reno and everything between has been blanketed in snow all winter. Wildflowers will be epic this year
I’ll take the backstrap.
Yeah, wife and I are at that point in our lives as well; moving to TX in the near future.
Pretty much the coldest winter in So Cal in memory. That’s the consensus of the 60 something crowd I hang with that has lived here since the 1950’s.
Close friends were in Donner and came home (to the San Fran Bay Area) yesterday morning, right before they closed I-80. It was snowing on their drive down to Auburn.
As I watch that video, I think to myself how NONE of those snow-clearing machines and tow trucks would work with electric propulsion. NOT a SINGLE ONE.
Global warming causes frostbite. News at 11.
Chicago had the biggest snow ever in 67 when I was a kid.
Us kids thought it was the best winter ever!!! The drifts were so high we could run around house roofs. So many tunnels built in our neighborhood looked like an ant colony.
Um, Dads didn’t feel the same way. They had to shovel a path out of our houses and our elderly neighbors houses to the street and then a pathway down the street.
After about a week our neighborhood ran out of food and the Dads shovel out to plowed road, went to our elderly neighbors to get their grocery list, took all their kids sleds and walked miles to a grocery store to get their neighbors fed. My Dad set that up. The local paper even interviewed him.
He taught me “Do unto others” is number one. And food hoarding is probably a good idea.
Best winter and my love for Dad went sky high.
Worked at Sugar Bowl Ski resort, Donner Summit for 3 seasons back in the 80’s. The 1982 end of March blizzard was epic.
I have to be honest, it seems like it used to be. Nothing amazing, just good ol Winter. As a youngin, it’d be FANTASTIC! Get out the skis, play hooky from school!
As an old fart that feels the cold, sometimes it really sucks. Glad I finally bought a snow blower.
Reno.
Climate Change, for sure, was the cause of this.
One year it got so bad a party of people had to eat their own.
