My neighbor across the street had a pitbull. It died a few months ago.
He kept it indoors and it was on a strong leash whenever outside.
The dog did bite the mailman once, but it truly was unintentional.
My neighbor opened the door to let the dog out at the exact time the mailman was rounding the corner of the house right at the door. It was a fear reaction and not a real bad bite.
The mailman was a sub and was on a different schedule than our regular guy who you can set a clock by.
I do believe that Pit Bulls have been misbred badly enough that the breed should be eliminated.
Perhaps you aren’t familiar with this troglodyte “culture”.
It’s called “Mexico”.
I always thought “several” meant three or more.
Go to any “no kill” city pound and 90% of the dogs are pits or pit mix. Pits are the worst about escaping confinement.
The only time I have come close to pulling my concealed carry pistol was due to a pit bull. While walking my golden retriever, the pit bull got through a hole in a fence and came charging at me. I kicked it in the shoulder, and it briefly paused. At the same time, I put my hand on my still holstered pistol grip, preparing to draw. The pit bull charged again and I got a lucky kick with my size 14 boot into the dogs throat. That kick stunned the dog, and probably saved it from getting shot...by me. Scared the heck out of me.
Not to worry. Pit Bulls are born brain damaged.

Shotguns loaded with 00 buckshot will kill any dog. Even the lowly .410 will kill a pit shot with the proper load.
There is not much “lowly” about a 410 with those three-inch loads of five 000 buckshot. The 410 sends those 36 caliber balls out at the same velocity as a 12 gauge is sending out its buckshot.
Dog packs are bad, feral dogs, even worse.
I got trapped n my truck in rural WA years ago by a pack of feral dogs. I was able to call the local Sherriff and report it. (I was doing LMR/SMR work at the time)
Using that case # as cuase, the State of WA issued me a CCW, rare at the time. Next time I went out to do some work in the same area, I left several of the damn mutts as carrion.

That must have been scary. Those insane dogs will chew through your tires, making it hard to get away.

One I was walking and a woman ahead of me was walking her large dog without a leash. The dog was barking and growling at me. I called to the woman to please put her dog on a leash but she made like she didn’t hear me.
I had my hand in my pocket on my gun the whole time.
My grandmother put the first real gun in my hands at 7. It was a break open single shot .410. I’m very aware of the force of that caliber. I simply refer to it as lowly because people give it a bad rap. It’s a sure enough game getter!
Had a friend who went to his daughters house to check on their boxer dog as the family was away on vacation. He opened the door and the boxer was out of the house like a rocket. Ran directly to the senior citizen walking her chihuahua. Attacked the dog and the lady who was trying to defend it.
My friend ran across to the dog and kicked it as hard as he could but could not dislodge the boxer from the lady.
He pulled his 1911 .45 and put two through the dog.
“Boxers are well mannered and will never attack”!
BS!! Any dog can revert to their primal instincts at any time. Be prepared.
