Ron DeSantis is the sane choice to revive the US
NY Post ^ | 2/11/2023 | Charles Gasparino

Listening to Tuesday’s State of the Union speech, it was hard not to lose hope in the future of the country and the American experiment.

It was delivered with grandiose delusion by a stammering, brain-addled octogenarian. When he wasn’t tripping over words or making stuff up (how he is taming inflation, as if the president controls interest rates), Joe Biden was being a petulant scold, sounding as if he was really angry that someone misplaced his dentures.

He wants to raise taxes, expand the welfare state, all because he thinks he knows what’s best even though he barely knows what day it is. Is this our future? Maybe.

Biden, for all his incapacity, will probably defeat the likely GOP challenger if it’s former President Donald Trump, another old dude who offers up his own set of personal baggage so large, we don’t have room in this column to describe it.

I’m just sick of these kind of discussions. It’s like going into the dumb ass Ukraine threads. There is no constructive discussion going on there.

I find it’s very difficult to have a constructive conversation with people when right off the bat they tell you that you’re insane for choosing somebody like trump.

They throw down the gauntlet right there. So it’s not useful, they’re not looking to have dialogue, they’re just looking to shoot their mouth off, so we can leave it at that and that’s the way it’s going to be right up until 2024 I’m certain of it.

So far in all the comments you’re the only one who gets it.

Idiots can crawl all they want about DeSantis for president. Until he says he’s running, it’s unicorn farts and rainbows.

More to the point, since he’s not said that he’s running, this whole push to get him to run is nothing less than a bunch of butt-hurt never-Trumper bull crap.

NO SALE

A) You’ve got a lot of butthurt friends.
B) Your definition of “Conservative” encompasses run-of-the- mill, go-along-to-get-along politicos, which is to say it is decidedly NOT actually Conservative. The people you’re considering will not move the needle off of “Partisan Politics As Usual.”
C) DeSantis isn’t running.

Get over it.

I never bought into the pandemic.

Good for you.

But, you were not president and you were not advising him at the time. So, it's still hindsight to know what the president was being advised to do.

You know? The experts? Did you know any of the experts? Did you know what they knew?

People were still dying from the 'infection' and that they had primary diseases was of no consequence to their dying. And perhaps hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, died of Covid by itself, just like people died and continue to die from the flu.

People were scared, and something had to be done, and Trump did it. Now that we know a bit more about Covid, we can do different. But, that's besides the point.

Are you aware that in hindsight, WWII and perhaps WWI, would not have been fought, if the Germans had known the outcome beforehand?

Someone better ward the Chinese ahead of time about how they're going to lose a war against the U.S.. We know that ahead of time, but, the Chinese are the current Germans and they have to learn the lessons the hard way. It's the same with Covid, where the lessons only come after the hard repercussions of going through the pandemic.

Lessons learned cannot be used to undo the past, but we can learn from those lessons. But, it's still hindsight.

Did you know any of the experts?

There were many experts, like Dr. Peter McCollough, who who came out early and very publicly declared that the proper course of action was to treat Covid just like any other strain of the flu, and utilize therapeutics, as the proper response. He and others properly explained that vaccines cannot prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses, and in fact actually just lead to higher levels of mutations.

If Trump chose to listen to others, that's on him. Many people were well aware of Fauci's involvement with Gain of Function experiments which led to the Covid outbreak, yet Trump was still trotting Fauci out on stage well after this information had broken nationwide.

Trump never stopped Gain of Function research, and is still a strong advocate for the DNA modifying injections to this day. He's had plenty of time to wise up, even if he was originally fooled, which I don't believe for a second.

Then they’d only be helping Trump by doing so. I don’t think so.

“Ron DeSantis is an actual conservative who fights and wins.”

Ron fights? I haven’t seen much of that. DeSantis just seems to wave his hand and he gets everything he wants. His Republican majority in the legislature rubber stamps whatever he puts in front of them, and them Dems who fight so hard in Arizona and other states, and who fought Trump every step of the way, are nowhere to be seen. Curious. I see no great ability involved on the part of DeSantis. He hasn’t had to fight for any of it.

If Trump chose to listen to others

During the panic of 2020 and the pandemic, Trump had to act, and what he did is questionable NOW. Who was to choose between experts at that time? Suppose YOUR chosen experts were wrong? Trump would have been run out of town.

Like I said, all decisions are easy, with 20/20 hindsight.

Trump would have been run out of town.

As if that isn't exactly what happened!

And he's done nothing of substance to increase his chances he'll ever get back in office. All he's done is buy a new website so he could whine some more.

But to some, apparently, Trump's whining is their siren song.

He got run out of town?

What movie did that occur in?

If my memory (and that of the rest of the world), the election was stolen from him. Remember that?

During 2020, when the pandemic was at its height, Trump was leading the charge against the risus. Remember that?

What occurred in the election, had NOTHING AT ALL with being run out of town. Remember that?

You're like a typical democrat wanting to rewrite history.

And, he's been fighting like hell to stay relevant in the last 2 years, and in FACT, has declared his candidacy for the 2024 run. Where have you been, other than trying to rewrite history?

Fighting is not the same as whining. Check your dictionary for the correct definition of fighting, which is not the same as whining.

Ridiculous, he took his $250M that people donated for him for the specifically advertised purpose of election security, right before January 6, 2021, and completely disappeared into Joe Biden's basement for a year.

He finally poked his head back out just long enough to give an interview with Candace Owners where he pushed his vaccines again, then back into hiding for a few more months because he looked so phony.

Then he held a few rallies, now back to whining on Twitter again. Go take some questions from an actual interviewer, again, tough guy.

Ridiculous,

Talk about ridiculous. Nobody has been more ridiculous than you have been for the past few days in your comments.

Look, if you love DeSantis so much that you have to make up your own version of history in order to disparage Trump, then go ahead and vouch for DeSantis, and even vote for him. But, making up things is not going to get DeSantis over Trump in the primaries.

Trump has not been president for more than 2 years now, but he's been in the news every week. The rallies would be irrelevant before the primaries and the election, but, he's had a lot more of them than anybody else in politics in the last 2 years. That you want to be blind to them doesnt' matter, and you don't matter and neither does DeSantis at this point. And, hey, I voed for DeSantis and would vote for him again if he were to be the GOP candidate, but, it ain't gonna happen this time around.

For spite, I'd bet you wouldn't vote for Trump if he were to be the candidate again, and you'd rather let whoever the democrats win, whoever he/se is, even Biden.

So, why don't YOU stop being so ridiculous?

I’ll vote for Trump in the general election, if he wins the primary. But he won’t have earned it, it will only because I don’t want a Democrat to win.

Trump has broken my trust.

He broke it when he kept trotting Fauci out on that stage every day, when everyone already knew that Fauci was behind gain of function and the virus to begin with. Trump never did anything to ban gain of function afterward either.

He broke my trust when he ordered all those vaccines before the first test had even been run on them, and now brags about it.

He broke my trust when he took $250 million dollars advertised to fight election fraud, and ran away with it instead.

He broke my trust when he switched form being against gay marriage, to throwing galas celebrating the new gay marriage law at his resort.

He never locked her up, never made Mexico pay for the wall, and never asked any of those horrible appointments of his to resign.

It’s no accident his favorite story is ”the snake.”

This reminds me of the 2016 Election where you had just about everyone on this forum for Bush, Cruz or Rubio.

De Santis is a weasel, and it will eventually all come out, unless he and Trump are in cahoots together and trolling us.
