Crows are very wary and on guard and they have a special call that translates to
“I’ve never seen this human before and it’s carrying a fire stick.” Then they all take to skies.
Hmmm. I recall seeing a technique like that used somewhere.
Ot sure. I know folks say if you wanna stop squirrels from raiding feeder, kill one and ,especially it by feeder. I can tell you that that does not work. The new squirrels just hoped over the dead one to get to the feeder. Didn’t slow them down one bit.
Here in GA even I the suburbs if you don’t lock your chickens up at night either the coyotes, raccoons or red tailed hawks will get them all.

Increase the odds of them coming in quickly by using prefator calls of wounded Animals. The coyotes Wil. Fairly quickly learn that the area is unsafe for them after you down a few, although I saw a hunting video on YouTube where they wiped out an entire group of coyotes one after the other, in one night, (they were killing livestock by the bushelfulls, and needed to be thinned out) and the coyotes would run off, and then come back to investigate the area. I thought one shot and the others would,scatter, but they didn’t. They stayed right in the vicinity, and kept coming back into shooting range.
I woudl,think though that if you got enough of one group of coyotes, that it would cut down on the damage they do. Usually it is one clan at a time that will be a problem. Unless the area is just infested with them
You sound like you know what you are doing, but my attempt was at sarcasm. 99% of reporters think that AR means ‘Assault Rifle’ (it means Armalite Rifle), and that anything over a 7 bullet magazine is a ‘army clip’. Anything with a bump stock is a machine gun, etc. I suggest that if you shoot a coyote that you cut his head off and leave it on a fence post where they migrate. It seems to discourage the pack.
Coyotes will eat anything including dead brethren.
I live in the mountains of Kentucky and we have them around the place. We put our two German Shepherds inside at night. I have sat on my back porch at dusk and listened to them lure a stray or lost hunting dog before. You hear the dog barking and then you hear the coyotes attack and the death scream of the dog, it’s over in about ten seconds then a few yips and silence.
One night in early fall it was cool and we had the windows open and about 4:00am a big pack came by the house just in the wood line and let out their howls. I immediately woke up but my wife was like Sylvester the Cat in the old Looney Tunes cartoons where Sylvester would get scared and you would see him claws attached to the ceiling, it scared her to death, she woke up almost in a scream herself. She said what is that? A pack of coyotes just outside the yard near the bedroom I said. What are you going to do about it she said? Nothing, as soon as I turn on a light or open the door they will be gone, go back to sleep. I did but she was up the rest of the night listening.
Yes we have had a pack in our backyard by the edge of our lake and running tipping down our side yard in the late night hours. Bear in mind we live in a subdivision in metro Atlanta. There are no stray cats in our subdivision. There used to be a bunch of them.
We have a rural property north of Atlanta we are getting ready to build on but we have been doing weekends up there in our travel trailer which we have parked up there. So far we have seen raccoons, coyotes and a fairly large bear at night on the acreage. We are going to put up hog wire fencing around the acre or so where we put the house, garden and new chicken coop. We’re going to get a couple of Anatolians or Karacachans who can run off a pack of coyotes or even a bear in a pinch. German Shepherds are great dogs but they just don’t have the size or bite strength to take on coyotes. I don’t blame you for keeping them inside at night. I would too.
A bucket of guts or road kill hung from a tree makes good coyote bait. So does a chicken with hooks in it but I won’t, just too gruesome. Either kill them clean or leave them alone.
The half mile of open pasture behind the house and in front of the woods behind us is my kill zone. For coyotes and our pets it reminds me of the gauntlet in the movie Bridge over the River Kwai that had to be crossed to enter the jungle.
A suppressor is useless unless you’re using subsonic ammo. The guy in the article used supersonic, and the “crack” when it breaks the sound barrier is almost as loud as unsuppressed.

A friend trains sheep dogs so she has sheep. She had donkeys but they will sometimes kill the newborns so she replaced them with a llama. Llamas and like emus. Real buttholes.
I know chicken ranchers who use #2 treble hooks to deal with coyotes. Tie them to a nice, sturdy tree branch with heavy deep sea fishing line, leaving the hook hanging about five feet off the ground. Wrap a big ol’ piece of raw chicken meat around the hook, making sure it finds purchase on all three points. Then check back every day or two to see what you’ve caught.
It doesn’t require any fancy shooting hardware, nor even human intervention. Just put out the bait and let nature take its course.
I would suggest checking your states game laws. While it may be lawful to kill predators on your own property with no license it may be unlawful to display the carcass as it is written in Kansas. Leave it lay on the ground along the fence line but not hung.
Heck with your set up, you don’t need a firearm, just a really sharp knife and tough stomach.

NOPE; the live ones will just eat them and come back looking for more!
This was understood for so long that it's almost crazy to hear people say that bears, wolves, coyotes and such have a right to be around humans. Nah. They are direct competitors for food and dangers to humans. That's why we wiped them out wherever we civilized.
