(Olympia, WA) -- Washington Governor Jay Inslee and Attorney General Bob Ferguson are announcing efforts to pass two new legislative plans they say will curb gun violence in the state. At a news conference Monday, both Inslee and Ferguson unveiled two measures, the first calling for a ban on the sale of military-style assault weapons. The second would work to ensure gun makers and dealers take steps to prevents weapons they are selling, from getting into the possession of "dangerous individuals."

The Firearm Industry Responsibility & Gun Violence Victims’ Access to Justice Act works to ensure that firearms makers and sellers will face liability if they fail "to establish, implement and enforce reasonable controls in the manufacture, sale, distribution and marketing of firearms." The bill also makes provisions allowing victims access to justice when the firearms industry fails to keep firearms out of the hands of dangerous individuals. The bill is sponsored by Sen. Jamie Pedersen, D-Seattle, and Rep. David Hackney, D-Tukwila.

The second bill renews Ferguson’s call for a ban on the sale, manufacture or importation of military-style assault weapons. This is the second time Gov. Inslee has joined Ferguson to call for a ban on the sale of assault weapons. The bill is sponsored by Sen. Patty Kuderer, D-Bellevue, and Rep. Strom Peterson, D-Edmonds,

“These policies will save lives, and ensure that the gun industry faces real consequences for irresponsible sales and marketing practices,” Ferguson said. “It’s time to act.”

This in "progressive" WA state where the Dimocrat leadership is avidly anti-gun and rabidly anti-2nd amendment. Note how they don't refer to "assault weapons", but only to "military-style assault weapons".

Like most states “gun violence” is isolated to certain neighborhoods with LOTS of diversity with MLK BLVD and Cesar Chavez BLVD. Washington state nearly all violent criminals with guns is the s hole of South Seattle. Almost all violent crime in Oregon is in Northeast Portland. Both stupid states are hell bent on disarming everyone else for the actions of these ‘diverse’ communities of color.

I am sure all those in possession of stolen guns, or those flooding our streets here (WA), will run right down to city hall and file for a permit.

I am so glad they are finally cracking down on gun Violence, I would much rather get hacked to death with a machete or bludgeoned with a baseball bat,

and when I do get shot with an illegal gun, at least I will know they meant well

Jay (”Idiot”) Inslee is dumb as a stump. I met him several times. And then one day, my dog tried to kill him. AS I recall, she didn’t have a gun.

Just how are firearms manufacturers supposed to prevent “dangerous individuals “ from getting firearms? It’s been illegal for felons to possess guns for over 50 years and they still get them. It’s nothing but an excuse for the government’s failure to curb violent crime by passing the responsibility to private industry.

Washington is the third most liberal state. If you like that, thank Bill gates and a few million former California residents.

““Military-style assault weapon” - can anybody define what that term means other than “whatever some politician wants it to mean”? There is no such thing. A military assault could incorporate any weapon known to man. “Military-style?” - they’ve never been a very stylish group for the most part. The 1911 and knives have been in more military assaults than any AR15.
