Caroline Ellison hired Stephanie Avakian and law firm WilmerHale to represent her in the FTX investigation, per Bloomberg.
Avakian was a top regulator at the SEC, where she increased oversight of cryptocurrency.
She also led major cases against companies including Tesla, Theranos, Facebook, and Wells Fargo, among others.

Ellison has also kept a much lower profile than her FTX counterpart, and was only recently spotted buying coffee near the offices of the US Attorney in NYC.
While Sam Bankman Fried cast public allusions about Ellison’s role the collapse of their crypto empire, Ellison seems to be making the right moves to protect herself from becoming the saga’s scapegoat.
So the person who ran the *non* oversight of cryptocurrency is the new lawyer for one of the accused? Hey feds, maybe you should investigate this lawyer chick.
