Only because the radio stations played it every 6.2 minutes 24 hours a day. Yes the torture was extreme. The song its self is boring and endlessly repetitive. Its the musical equivalent of a Ford Pinto.

this song was so requested that a station in Birmingham played it continuously for 24 hours.
I was 16 years old.
