Wait until the see F-15, SR-71, RC-135, B-52, KC-10, C-17 and especially the largest plane, Fat Albert (C-5).

If it appeared in your rear view mirror as you are driving along the highway, it would be massive.

Certain stretches of US highways are designated as alternative landing sites for military and other aircraft. Supplies are buried at those sites to set up make shift base.

As well, most overpasses are over 16’ clear to move military equipment.

I wonder how long it would remain in your rear view mirror? šŸ¤ŖšŸ˜†šŸ˜€šŸ˜‚

Saw something “massive” today.

Got out of the car in front of a burger joint and caught 6 parallel contrails flying west to east directly over north central Dallas at about 1:17 pm central time.

There was a large center aircraft, three smaller ones in echelon right and two more in echelon left formation.

They were not doing anything fancy, just cruising at about 15,000 ft.

I have lived here almost all my life and have never seen anything like it.

A-10s are not massive. Now a C-5 bearing down on you, THAT’S MASSIVE!

I'm betting that it was a KC-135 or KC-10 with one on the boom and the rest in tow waiting their turn.

I got to see one of those when they were pretty new at a huge transportation expo at Dulles c. 1970. Got to walk through the cargo bay. Very impressive to a middle-schooler.

A-10’s aren’t massive.

C-5M’s, C130’s, K/C 130’s. Those are massive.

I was out shooting in the local dunes some years back. The area is on a flight path...Airplane Hill still has a rusted aircraft engine lying on it,..and I heard something coming in. I turned and saw a KC-135 coming in very low. Pretty impressive, for this area. Iā€™d occassionally seen them refueling fighters out alonfg the coast, and once saw what looked like one refueling another -135.

The A-10’s gatling gun is MASSIVE.

https://www.businessinsider.com/how-the-a10-warthog-gau8-gatling-gun-really-works-2021-5?op=1

the A-10 Thunderbolt II is, basically, an airplane built around the GAU-8 Avenger 30-mm hydraulically driven seven-barrel Gatling-type cannon.

The Avenger cannon is the Hog primary weapon and is able to fire 3,900 bullets per minute.

Was stationed at Ellsworth in 1980. A BUFF is a pretty big plane.

It was probably refuelling an E-8 JSTARS. It is also based on the 707 airframe although larger than a KC-135.

As far as airplanes go, No the A-10 is not massive. It is a single seater. It is by a lot of measures a great airplane. My favorite.

I have too, and I LOVE watching them fly, take off and land. Such a graceful beautiful bird.
