See, the reason cowboys could technically whip pistols like that is because they had single-action revolvers, not modern semi-autos with a hair trigger.

Back to hunting again, did you know that a single round out of an AR will vaporize a deer and travel for 2 miles before (probably) creating a 200 megaton explosion?

If this were true, emptying a single mag in my local indoor range would create an underground eruption similar to Mount Doom!

Superior knowledge, understanding, and wit aside, single-action revolvers can have better trigger pulls than any autoloader.

Even a single-action autoloader must have sufficiently strong springs and properly shaped parts to withstand counter-recoil and disconnector action. All this tends to work against a really light (hair or “easy”) trigger pull. Hammer or striker springs cannot be lightened much: autoloaders depend in part on them to help the main recoil spring keep the action locked during firing. Lighten them too much, and the hammer or striker will follow the slide as it returns to battery.

Revolvers have no such limitation. Especially single-action revolvers: “single action” means the trigger has but one function - to release the hammer when pressed.
