Unfortunately, there are rarely symptoms with polyps. My son said he had no symptoms until he found blood in his stool. Of course blood can mean hemorrhoids, or a fissure (tear). Best to have it checked out. I’m glad you had your polyps taken care of, and that they were benign.

The overall necessity of PSA tests is in question. The American Urological Association has some thoughts on that here:
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/260087
I got stampeded into a prostate biopsy. Interestingly, my primary care and urology doctors were not convinced that I needed it but wound up recommending it because that is a "belt and suspenders" for them against the 2% odds of a missed diagnosis.
Since then, I have been on routine observation for almost 20 years with no changes in anything else...and not a single PSA test since that one.

I’m glad it worked out well for him. We all have our own stories to tell.

Did you read the title of the article we are responding to? Of course. Which is why I asked if you had read the article.
It seems from your comment that you only read the headline. Everything in your comment was covered in the article.
You should know by now that headlines are clickbait.

I agree. The study seems to be illogical. Almost all hmo insurance mandates this test and I cannot believe they would do so unless it clearly saved money thru prevention and early detection.
Then you are ignorant of the true purpose of HMOs.
Its not to cure you or prevent a disease, it is to provide for the maintenance of the disease by maintaining profits flowing to Big Pharma using their medicines.

I was talking to my niece about this issue this morning. I am no longer sure if the reason that the news is out to poo poo, heh, the colonoscopy is because of the costs, and now, so many more people are getting them.
Are procedures being declared not really worth it because of costs more than anything?
Funny how we question so many things that we never questioned before.

Or Deep State could be trying to gaslight people into settling for cheaper screenings.
Trust but verify.
