Councilwoman Letitia James has filed a personal injury suit against an itinerant laborer after she allegedly injured herself walking into his legally parked truck.
The Democratic lawmaker, who makes $122,500 a year as the people’s representative in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill, is seeking an unspecified amount of damages for wounds she claims to have sustained on July 11 when she walked into a four-inch trailer hitch protruding from David Day’s parked car.
James sustained “serious, severe and permanent [injuries] to her limbs and body” and “she will be caused to suffer … continuous pain and inconvenience,” according to court papers filed last month in Brooklyn Supreme Court by James’s attorney Robert Mijuca of the powerful law firm of Rubenstein and Rynecki.
The court documents also allege that the injuries caused James to be unable to attend to her usual occupation - though the alleged pain and suffering occurred on the eve of the councilwoman’s re-election campaign, one that she waged with her typical vigor against two primary rivals.
She bounced to an easy victory. Additionally, several of James’s Council colleagues told this newspaper that they did not recall James limping or using crutches during the summer.
But court papers paint a very different scenario of the events of July 11 on Fulton Street between S. Portland Avenue and S. Oxford Street.
The lawsuit claims that James “came into contact with the exposed, unprotected hitch,” contact that led to “great physical and mental pain” — though the actual body part that was damaged is not cited.
James claims that Day’s hitch is illegal and that her injuries resulted “solely [from] the careless and negligent manner in which [he] owned and maintained his motor vehicle.”

I don't know if anyone else has seen one but I have not. I have seen: 1-3/4", 2" and 2-5/16", 3" then a Pintle Hitch and 5th Wheel but never a 4" hitch.

Might be a 4” drop used on some taller 4x4 pickups.
My wife’s new ram has to have a 6” drop.
This must be a eastern thing to remove the male stinger part of hitch.
I doubt there are a half dozen pickups in Oklahoma that don’t have one on constantly.

People who haven't earned their positions on each rung of the ladder but got there because of another reason (affirmative action in the case of Letitia James) just don't have that wisdom.
They think they are where they are because they are special. And they mistakenly interpret that specialness as a kind of royalty. They come to believe they are, by nature, above the common folk.

My main complaint is that the B!t€}{ doesn’t know what she’s talking about.

Good point. But trucks are often hauling things; if I ever see a truck I automatically look down for a trailer hitch.
But the main thing is, however the guy had it installed, was it illegal? Or was it negligent? If not, then I don’t see how she could sue successfully.
There has to be an action by the defendent who is seized by a civil duty that exists by case law or by statute, and directly resulting damages.
In this case the plaintiff appears too have none of the necessary ingrediates upon which to predicate a civil law suit against Donald Trump.
I do believe La Tit Sha can be personally repremanded or sanctioned for professional misconduct by the NY State Supreme Court for bringing this completely frivolous law suit.
In short, La Tit Sha is a complete TRUMP Derangement Syndrome WING NUT using the Courts as an instrument of her personal re-election campaign !

Heck, the case is so bad that even Bill Barr, who's become Trump's mortal enemy when it comes to disputing the American president's plenary power to declassify anything he wants, has gone on record saying that the case is a "political hit job" that constituted "gross overreach," that will end up "backfiring," because it will increase sympathy for Trump. The suit, he concluded, is nothing more than a manifestation of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
No president in American history has paid such a high price for daring to buck the establishment. Trump may be gone from office, but the leftists holding power across America have vowed to do everything they can to hunt him down and destroy him.
