Abstract
We assess firearms as a means of Black self-defense in the Jim Crow South. We infer firearm access by race and place by measuring the fraction of suicides committed with a firearm. Corroborating anecdotal accounts and historical claims, state bans on pistols and increases in White law enforcement personnel served as mechanisms to disarm the Black community, while having no comparable effect on White firearms. The interaction of these mechanisms with changing national market prices for firearms provides us with a credible identification strategy for Black firearm access. Rates of Black lynching decreased with greater Black firearm access.

Pointless article. I don’t think anyone is proud of what was done in the past to both blacks and native Americans. That said, the historical evolution of black culture and behavior here is not a model, either. As an outsider, the root cause of the problem is the deterioration of the black family unit. Over 70% of black children are raised in single-parent homes. I blame this on Democrat-designed War on Poverty under Johnson. It causes the father to leave because payments for the children are higher when he’s not present. It should be the other way around. $4 trillion dollars later and poverty among blacks is worse now than it was in the late ‘60’s. It’s easy to be a father; much harder to be a parent. Man-up, guys, and take responsibility for your actions.
The NRA went down south and it conducted firearm safety and training for blacks.
So blacks could protect themselves. You will never hear a Democrat talk about that, but it’s documented.
It works like this. Lots of people have guns. Remember this, if you use those guns, FOR ANY REASON the police will come by to see what is going on. IF YOU USED IT ILLEGALLY YOU WILL BE ARRESTED AND YOUR GUN TAKEN, PERIOD!!!

Many whites were lynched for fighting racism . Of course in the south during reconstruction only blacks were barred or "discouraged" by the pre civil war laws barring them from gun ownership .
All "Gun Control" efforts in America were undertaken for the purpose of Disarming Black Citizens from before the Civil War onward, or
secondly, for the purpose of Disarming the Entire Citizenry in a Municipality where the Police and Government are Corrupt Criminal Thugs (IE: New York City Sullivan Law).
