If you have worked in public service (federal, state, local, tribal government or a non-profit organization) for 10 years or more (even if not consecutively), you may be eligible to have all your student debt canceled. Now, for a limited time, it is easier than ever to receive that forgiveness, or get credit toward forgiveness, if you have not yet served 10 years.
But you must apply before October 31, 2022.

I want my mortgage debt cancelled, car loan cancelled, my county taxes cancelled, my IRS federal taxes cancelled and my bar tab at Moes Tavern cancelled.
More favoritism to gov’t trough feeders. As if these slugs don’t get paid enough. Only 25% of gov’t workers are productive and earn their keep. I am counting state, county and Federal. For many of them, their gov’t job is workfare.
Why not forgive taxpayers (non government employees) all debt. Make those who ran up the debt pay it all back.
I mean forgive citizens all national debt (except government employees and democRATs). The trillions and trillions that they voted for, but I did not.
That would be several generations of politicians and face it voters who believed in economic unicorns, financial fairy dust & snipe cornucopia!
In almost all cases if we’re honest with ourselves and want to know who’s to blame for this. We hold up a mirror!
I never voted for any of this. Not in 40 years of voting.
More bailouts
No, it’s not all the debt that will be discharged under PSLF. Need to make payments for 10 years first (other than the last 2 years).
This was an Obama program and nothing really new. I’m glad people are paying attention now to this kind of thing and objecting. No one really seemed to object to this scheme back in 2010 and it passed Congress.
I am sure you had congresscritters/senators that did!
Anyway my statement was not meant be personal. It was the corporate “we”. We’ve been sold a bill of goods on “Socialism Lite” a least since the days of FDR probably true back to Wilson.
Thank you! “I never voted for any of this. Not in 40 years of voting.”
I will be 84 in the next big vote and my wife is 83, and neither of us have voted for any of this stuff in 60+ years.
We get tired of A$$holes saying we voted for it.
Looking back 20+years, “Has our vote ever been counted correctly if counted.”
Ain’t no way Moe is gonna cancel that bar tab, bro.
Working in “Public Service”? What defines public service? Government employee? Teacher? Street sweeper? What?
If it is Government employee, then that is a real crook! They get, as we all know, better pay with COLA increases, better pensions, better holidays and vacations, better and less expensive health benefits! And now loan forgiveness?!
Hmmm, could it be that they are majority ‘D’onkey Party members?
They are DESPERATE for Votes!!!!!
I WANT A REFUND on the disaster loan I took out for our losses in the 1976 Mingo Creek Flood, in Tulsa OK. Took me eight years but I paid it all back.
The IRS even audited me the next year because I claimed this loss on my income tax. I passed!
