Have the Cheneys Forgotten the Deep State Hit on Scooter Libby?
The American Spectator ^ | 13 Aug, 2022 | JACK CASHILL

Self-awareness is not one of the Cheneys’ strengths.

I have been ashamed to hear members of my party attacking the integrity of the FBI agents involved with the recent Mar-a-Lago search,” the perversely self-righteous Liz Cheney tweeted on Thursday. “These are sickening comments that put the lives of patriotic public servants at risk.” Rep. Cheney seems to have forgotten one significant event in her family’s political life: the same weaponized deep state that okayed the raid on Mar-a-Lago convicted her father’s chief-of-staff Lewis “Scooter” Libby on charges that were as manufactured as those leveled against President Trump. If Liz has forgotten, former vice president Dick Cheney surely remembers.

In June 2007, Libby was convicted in a D.C. court of one count of obstruction of justice, two counts of lying under oath, and one count of making false statements. “I believe firmly that Scooter was unjustly accused and prosecuted and deserved a pardon,” Mr. Cheney told CNN’s John King in 2009, adding, “I was clearly not happy that we, in effect, left Scooter sort of hanging in the wind.” By “we” Cheney meant President George W. Bush. Cheney did little to conceal his disgust with Bush for failing to pardon Libby.

The charges against Libby stemmed from an investigation into the leak of the name of the low-level, Langley-based, CIA agent Valerie Plame. The White House was alleged to have leaked her name to punish her husband, Joe Wilson, an international hustler and occasional ambassador. Wilson purported to be a whistleblower. He wasn’t. He was a showboater.

No “scandal” in recent history promised so much and delivered so little. The media liked Plame because she looked good. They liked Wilson for the same reason they liked Michael Avenatti, his willingness to give authoritative cover to their preferred narrative,

I wonder where Lizzard will land next.

For over a year she has known she is toast in WY.

For over a year she has been unofficially auditioning for a spot as the "republican" at the political table on the Sunday morning talk shows. She'll do just fine.

TWO MORE DAYS UNTIL THE HAG IS VOTED OUT.

And I expect her "concession" speech to be a "moral victory" speech dripping with virtue signaling and self pity. She will lament how the "crazies" have taken over the "party of Reagan." And the Lamestream media will eat it up.

I wonder where Lizzard will land next.

Many here suspect she will be hosting on MSNBC or CNN. I suspect she will head straight to FoxNews.

At least they did not go in and burn the compound down like Janet Reno did to the Branch Dravidians.

She’s ready for the BIG payoff. She really didn’t need to go into politics to get rich. She could have simply taken a seat on the board at Raytheon or Halliburton. This is the normal route for family members of DS Military Industrialist whales like her hack father. Liz and her extended family will kick back on K Street getting filthy rich while on occasion being called upon to do the type dirty work we are watching old Dick perform today.

Dick Cheney was willing to sacrifice “Scooter” Libby.

Did she attack Trump in 2016? Was she always a liberal?

Political consciousness is muddy as hell nowadays.

We know that Cheney is a defender of the Establishment (which he obviously somehow thinks is different than the Deep State).

And we can imagine that his loyalty to his daughter would confuse the issue somewhat in his mind.

On top of that, he is has had serious heart issues and that can cause some mental confusion.

“I was clearly not happy that we, in effect, left Scooter sort of hanging in the wind.”
Dick Cheney

That sentence alone is reason enough to never vote for a Washington insider of which Dick Cheney is the epitome of.
When, even a friend can no longer do anything for you, abandon him. That is the professional politician’s creed. Creed rhymes with Greed.

Yes, he did, and as the saying goes, “no good deed is ever unpunished in the Swamp”.

In all fairness, it was not Cheney but GW who left Libby hanging.

The way the deep state thinks, Scooter Libby was just a useful idiot. Once he had been used (to protect his boss), he just became a disposable idiot.

Sort of like what the deep state did to Lee Harvey Oswald without that much drama.
