The 3 “S”’s - Shoot, Shovel, Shut Up.
Feral dog packs forming as pets are abandoned en masse will potentially also be a significant problem going forward.

Here's me, appreciating a coyote from a distance:

These idiots would set up coyote petting stations at the school bus stops if they could. Watched too much Disney before it went all queer, all the time.

Buss them to New York and DC to eat the rats!I like the way you think! A real problem solver. It's a win win! On the other hand, while I don't mind blowing away a yotie, what you are talking about is a little cruel.

Don’t hesitate to feed them some meat with a sauce made from roasted cocoa. Got to make sure that the theobromine is as bioavailable as possible.

In February 2019, 3 coyotes came on to our wooded property, and sniffed their way right to the spot where one of our cats liked to hang out. Thankfully he was not outside at the time. Needless to say, it was the last day my indoor/outdoor cats were allowed outside...until we built them a most wonderful cat enclosure.
We have a cat door that we built into a window in our sunroom, and it connects to a tunnel that opens into the enclosure. It has a vented roof, and I even fashioned a weather cover out of a shower curtain. The cats can go outside anytime they want, rain or shine, summer or winter, snow or heat wave.
Needless to say, those coyotes won’t get my cats.

Are they referring to four legged or two legged Coyotes?

Being an amateur astronomer, my concern is being out in the boonies in the middle of the night and having one sneak up on me. Mountain lions have been reported in our area, as well here in Northern Illinois.
I will be armed just in case…

You have the eastern type coyotes or the western there? Western would not be a threat unless you are only 36 inches tall. The cougars, yes. We are also dealing with pure wolves here now (NE Oregon).

Right before Bradon's Installation, we had a big pack behind the house.
They were very aggressive.
I popped 2 with my "weapon of War".
They decided grass was greener, somewhere else.
