Okay, I know about the Arizona voting mess and keeping tabs, but this song brings me back to 1974.

As I watched the video, I noticed the lead singer was playing the drums.

The only people who played the drums and was lead singer, were Karen Carpenter and Phil Collins.

The only ones? Believe there may have been a few more. Don Henley. :-)

Micky Dolenz.

Mickey was drum and lip synching on The Monkee's, but you may have a point, since they did do live tours, and Jimi Hendrix was the opening act.

Don't forget Gary Lewis, they played over him but his drumming was i there in the early hits.

The Night Chicago Died?

Isn't that every weekend? https://heyjackass.com/home/

Seriously though, I do remember that song, when I was a kid.

Phil Collins rarely sang and played drums at the same time live, he had other drummers, and would only drum during instrumental parts.

Yeah. Poor guy is in bad shape now and can hardly sing sitting in a chair. Interesting that Phil had auditioned dozens or hundreds of guys (supposedly) to take Gabriel’s place only to finally take it on himself.

I couldn’t even bear to watch it. Now Steve Hackett hasn’t aged a bit.

Every time that tune comes on the air I change the channel. Sucked back then and still does now.

Paper Lace also had the original version of "Billy, Don't Be A Hero." It was a smash hit in the UK but Bo Donaldson & The Heywoods covered it and had the big hit with it over here in the USA.

Getting back to "The Night Chicago Died", Paper Lace sent a copy of that song to then Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, apparently thinking it was a good promotional stunt. It did not go over very well. Paper Lace got a written response back to the effect that Paper Lace should "Jump in the Chicago River, placing your heads under water three times, surfacing only twice."

So I take it Richard Daley did not like the song either.
