Hollywood actor Johnny Depp has made about £3m in just a few hours through a sale of his debut art collection.
Depp sold 780 prints through Castle Fine Art's 37 galleries, including in London's Covent Garden, within hours of announcing the sale on Instagram.
The Friends And Heroes collection depicts people who have inspired him, including Rolling Stone Keith Richards and Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor.
"I've always used art to express my feelings," the 59-year-old said.
"My paintings surround my life, but I kept them to myself and limited myself. No one should ever limit themselves."
The actor said he used his art, which also depicted actor Al Pacino and folk legend Bob Dylan, to "reflect on those who matter most to me, like my family, friends and people I admire".
All 780 pieces sold within hours on Thursday, with framed individual images going for £3,950 and the complete portfolio of four images selling for £14,950.
Depp's post on Instagram, captioned only "NOW AT #CASTLEFINEART", prompted a rush of traffic to the gallery's website causing it to crash.

He’s a talented painter. He did some painting of an elephant (apparently one of his favorite things to paint) and gave it to Ellen on TV a few years ago. It was good.
He definitely has real talent.

well to be fair to Depp...these arent the original paintings he sold whereas Hunter sold originals...LOLOL..and btw, what happened to Hunters budding art career? It seems have disappeared

But he painted an elephant and gave it to a dyke. So all good.
My remarks only referenced his ability to paint, not his worth as a person.
Still, I’d take him over Amber Heard in a second.
i have seen some people claiming he is painting over photos. apparently, maybe warhol did the same.

He may be paining over photos. Not sure. His stuff does look like Warhol’s (who maybe did the same).

The elephant thing he did for Ellen (it can be found on YouTube) was good. I’d imagine it was freehand but I’m not sure.
As far as I know he hasn’t shat in anybody’s bed.

I have a set of very large (1 meter square) signed lithographs Andy Warhol did of Ingred Bergman. They’re stunning, but not on display bc my family objects to salacious pictures of women.
It does look like Warhol ripoffs.

Oh no doubt. I love comics and have seen plenty of stuff better than what Depp has there.
I do think he has some talent, though.

Even if Depp is just doing the coloring, that is still really good.
