INCINNATI (WKRC) - On May 28, 2016, a small boy fell into the gorilla exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo. What happened next prompted internet outrage across the world: a gorilla was killed. That gorilla was named "Harambe".
Harambe was the 17-year-old western lowland gorilla who had noticed that the boy fell into the enclosure. He approached the boy and grabbed him. Video shows Harambe dragging the young boy around the retaining pool in the enclosure as onlookers shout and scream in response.

Sad. It’s unfortunate that they could save the gorilla.
Sheila jackson-lee still in mourning?
And what was the name of the little boy killed by that gorilla? I went to the link and did not find his name. But we find the name of the killer. Just like we all know the name Salvador Ramos. But do we have any idea of the names of the dead children and the teachers killed in Uvalde?
Of course we could all go and look it up, but there’s more fame and notoriety given to killers then there is to victims.
JUSTICE FOR HARAMBE
“Video shows onlookers shout and scream, and Harambe dragging the young boy across to the far end of the retaining pool away from the screaming people in response.”
I don’t think the boy was killed.
The kid didn’t die.
“Fearing for the child’s life, the zoo’s response team shot and killed Harambe, according to Maynard.
Maynard said though Harambe didn’t attack the child, the animal’s size and strength posed a great danger. “
” But do we have any idea of the names of the dead children and the teachers killed in Uvalde?”
Yes.
If Harambe’s name was Salvador Ramos, they’d let him kill that little boy. After all, that’s what happened in Ben(Uvalde)ghazi
Exactly.
As I recall the gorilla acted as though he was protecting the kid. The kid was fine but they put down the gorilla. It reminds me of the time I was 16 and wandered across a black bear and its cub. The cub ran right for me, as did the angry black bear. In short I was spared by the bear, but when I told people about it they sent a tracker to kill both the mother and cub. I was angry about it.
black lives matter but gorilla lives didn’t make the cut
I think there is a generic element amongst mammals, in that they recognize "younger" and "baby" and make allowances for them.
Dogs do it all the time . . . put a newborn (1 -2 month old) pup in with an older dog, and in my experience the sex doesn't matter . . . what counts is the age . . . and those little needle teeth can hurt, but the older dog (especially the male) seems to put up with the abuse, imo . . . because it is recognized the pup is a child or infant.
I liked Harambe more than George Floyd. He never stuck a pistol in a pregnant woman’s belly.
Or across species too. That’s how you sometimes get humans raised by wolves. It’s not a myth, it has actually happened, and been documented.
I think you're totally correct that a male gorilla would sense no threat of physical harm from a human infant. However, territorial instincts could be a lot more complicated making the gorilla's actions unpredictable. As much as I hated seeing Harambe killed, the safety of the child was the top priority.
Did you watch the video at the link?
The kid could have easily been killed.
