This June 17 will mark 50 years since five burglars were caught red-handed in the Watergate offices of the Democratic National Committee. We will be regaled once again with laudatory tales of the two intrepid cub reporters, whose dogged investigative work thwarted a determined cover-up by President Richard Nixon and his henchmen.

The truth behind a separate troubling event did not emerge until Jeff Himmelman’s book Yours in Truth: A Personal Portrait of Ben Bradlee was published in 2012. He tells the story of his discovery of a seven-page Bernstein memo in Bradlee’s files, detailing Bernstein’s highly improper interview with a Watergate grand juror. The duo had not only denied ever having conducted such interviews — for the prior four decades — but had falsely attributed information garnered from them as having come from a campaign secretary known only as “Z.” When confronted with undeniable proof of their subterfuge, Woodward threatened to ruin the author if the true story was ever revealed. Himmelman’s chapter “Z” is well worth reading, since it describes the highly ignoble conduct of two prominent media heroes.

It was not until 2013 that this mysterious “other party” became known. That’s when Jaworski’s confidential Watergate files, the ones he’d improperly removed when leaving office in October 1974, first surfaced. They had been reclaimed by our National Archives and opened to the public in response to my FOIA request. As it turns out, Jaworski had been secretly meeting with Chief Judge John Sirica to work out issues in advance of the Watergate trials. Jaworski’s files contain allusions to at least a dozen such highly improper meetings, any revelation of which would have led to both Sirica and Jaworski being immediately removed from further Watergate involvement — and perhaps even disbarred.

Woodward and Bernstein think they’re heroes. Only to the left.
The hero of Watergate was G. Gordon Liddy.
Mark Felt was a bitter cork soaker for being passed over for head of the FBI.
I was 30 years old when Watergate went down. The memory in my mind is still very vivid. What the media, the left, and the deep state did to Trump failed. What they did to Nixon obviously worked. They believed they could use the same playbook with Trump.
What a bunch of crooks and slime. I rob a bank and go to jail if caught. The Wapo and the two reporters rob us, the American people, of our right to choice of leadership and they wind a Pulitzer prize.

Watergate was a Deep State takedown of a presidency.
Nixon’s team was paranoid for no reason. Was an easy re-election and they didn’t need to pull all the dirty tricks to beat the far left chaotic Dems as voting was required to be in person and with IDs.
Deep State took out Kennedy, Nixon, and tried to do the same to Trump.

Yes. Giving control of the legal investigative machinery to Mueller and his partisan Democrat mad dogs was undoing the 2016 election just like giving the legal investigative machinery to the Kennedy crowd undid the 1972 election. And when, incredibly, Mueller failed, the leftist deep state really doubled down to steal the 2020 election.
I continue to be astonished at how straight-arrow Trump is, that Mueller's vicious, partisan legal pitbulls could find nothing to pin on him. Of course, the bulk of their time and effort was spent corralling and destroying evidence of Democrat crimes -- making Durham's job exponentially more difficult.
Richard Nixon provided munitions and supplies to Israel during the Yom Kippur war of 1973. Without his aid, there would be no Israel. I doubt that either Carter or Obama would have lifted a finger to help Israel.
Richard Nixon brought the troops home from Vietnam with honor and victory. It is not his fault that a Democratic party-controlled Congress abandoned South Vietnam, thereby guaranteeing its defeat.
Nixon saved Israel and South Vietnam. No one has a kind word for the man.

Shepard’s books on Watergate detail extensive misconduct by the Watergate prosecutors and defense team, coordinated by Ted Kennedy behind the scenes. Some of the key players were ones Attorney General Robert Kennedy had previously used on his “Get Hoffa” and “Get Cohn” squads, and the game plan was the same Ted Kennedy would later use against other targets such as Clarence Thomas. Spygate was the same tactic applied against Trump, and it is no coincidence that Carl Bernstein was involved in CNN’s initial reporting on the Steele Dossier.

Legendary journalist Bob Woodward said that CNN’s reporting on a summary of classified information presented to Donald Trump was “exactly right” and it “clearly is news” that intelligence chiefs presented the information to the President-elect. . .
Woodward was joined for the interview by fellow award-winning Watergate scandal reporter, Carl Bernstein, a CNN Political contributor who co-bylined the original CNN report on the documents.
And still not a kind word from anyone.

I had read that his mom told him that he would do something like that years earlier. Like a God prophetic word from his mom to guide him at the right moment of history.
Nixon made friends with Communist China.

Nixon had to directly order Sec of Def James Schlesinger and Deputy Sec of Def William Clements, whose oil industry ties put them directly on the side of Arab Muslims.
Some versions of the story even had Kissinger stalling for a week so Israel would bleed enough to accommodate Arab Muslims.
I think it was likely that Nixon’s being forced to resign was the Deep State’s payback for not bowing to their entitlement to determine foreign policy.
Using the word “heroes” in a story about Woodward and Bernstein is enough to induce a gag reflex.
The January 6 committee Democrats with its two rinos are again working hand-in-hand with Garland’s Department of Justice to destroy Trump as a legal candidate and tyrannize the whole of the Trump base by exchanging information, this time by the committee handing over information to the Attorney General.
It’s almost certain that the flow of information is going the other way as well.
One can only wonder whether the leftist federal judges sitting in the DC circuit today are colluding with Garland as did the special Watergate counsel Jaworski with judge Sirica. How much scrutiny can judge Sullivan bear of his conduct in general Flynn’s case?
Of course, Woodward and Bernstein should be exposed and bitch-slapped at every opportunity, but the real story here is not their perversion of journalistic standards but the frightening corruption of our justice system.
