Hunter, is that you? If not, you must have a vested interest in Ukraine...

Ukraine provides grain to food aid organizations and others that help feed about 400,000,000 people in poor and wartorn countries. I am hoping that the recent successes at Snake Island and sinkings of ships will help open up the seas to shipping out this grain.

Not happening. There is no longer the rail system intact, nor the bridges to move the grain to market. Most, if not all the grain produced, will be used internally. Further, instead of wheat, farmers have been planting buckwheat and oats. And that’s just the farmers that even bothered to plant, not counting all the grains that the Orcs will steal and take to Orc Land.

Snake Island in UA hands will not rebuild the bridges, rail lines and locomotives needed to get the mostly non-existent wheat to Odessa. The August harvest will tell the tale.

Nor is the sky-high insurance rates for shippers in the Black Sea likely to go down; absent lower rates, no grain ship owners will risk their ships.

Everyone must understand this war is not Iraq, not Afghan, not Nam, not Korea, but WWII with a tad bit of WWI thrown in for good measure - that is the type and scale of combat on the Front.

Pay attention to Pootie Toot’s®™ words today.

I had the impression from other articles that a lot of this grain was already stored in Odessa, thus the main obstacle is the ship transport possibilities, which of course are currently not good. On the other hand as hunger begins to bite the poorer countries is there the possibility for UN action, especially if Putin becomes incapacitated? A lot of the Ukraine future crop will be needed at home since it will be a much smaller harvest. Of course the Orcs will be taking home most of whatever is found or grown in the territories , they now control and can keep although their running off with much of the farm machinery will not be a plus. I wonder what Russian capacity to maintain western farm machinery actually is, and if they will be able to get repair parts with current and potential future sanctions?

Farm machinery was locked. Will have to jury rig - if it is possible - to start. Bypassing the lockout will take a bit of ingenuity as manufacturers are not idiots.

Gain in silos will be needed in Ukraine, as there is going to be a very low harvest of wheat; most of what has been planted is buckwheat and oats
