TMZ has released video where Chappelle can be heard talking about the attacker’s injuries and appears to be happy about the outcome.
“I felt good my friends broke his arm,” Chappelle is heard saying in the video.
Those words could cost Chappelle if a civil suit is filed.
“It is very possible that Dave Chappelle’s own words, where he says that he roughed the guy up, can be used against him in a potential civil manner down the line,” Triessl said.
The Hollywood Bowl may not be off the hook either.
Despite confiscating patrons’ cell phones ahead of the show, the security team somehow missed a replica gun that contained a knife blade.
“The Hollywood Bowl or the promoters involved in this show, including Netflix, may be facing civil liability for their lapse of security. Something went very wrong here,” Triessl said.

Chappelle should tell everybody, “I have trained security and I have told them to break any MF’s arm that rushes me on stage.”
“America’s lost its collective mind.”
It’s starving lawyers who have to cared for.
Yeah, something’s really wrong when an attack by a man with a deadly weapon is not being charged as a felony and only because the perp is black. I’ll bet that guy has a long list of prior crimes too.
Yeah, something’s really wrong.
If the cops did this to a suspect brandishing a weapon the left would burn cities.
Remember the Rittenhouse kid?
That’s what it’s all about! And they will!
Exactly. Also, judges have incredible power and make decisions on matters that should not be their concern.
Waiting for the Bee’s take on this lawsuit. In 3 . . . 2 . . .
I totally agree with you. The judiciary as a whole has way, way overstepped their constitutional bounds. I don’t know exactly when that started to happen, but it became a runaway train over the last couple of decades.
“One of the many ways the American experiment went awry is that somewhere along the line judges began allowing frivolous lawsuits that should have been thrown out on their face.”
This could easily be remedied by instituting a requirement the plaintiff in a civil suit pays the legal fees of the defendant if the plaintiff loses the case. In class action cases the attorneys bringing the case should pay the defendant’s costs if the class action suit is unsuccessful. These requirements would dramatically reduce the number of lawsuits and would virtually eliminate “lawfare” where frivolous suits are filed in order to extort a settlement from defendants of less than the cost of defending the suit.
“Also, judges have incredible power and make decisions on matters that should not be their concern.”
The Constitution gives Congress the power to define the role of federal courts and the judges administering cases. Congress chooses not to do so. As a result the leftist judges are constantly pushing the boundaries of permissible behavior.
Don’t count on Mitch and Kevin to look at reforming the federal courts should the Republicans win both houses of Congress.
