New police bodycam footage has been released of the moment three Syracuse police officers apprehended an eight-year-old black boy and force him into the back of a police car.
Earlier this week, video shot by a bystander captured the moment an officer dragged the crying boy, who was accused of stealing a bag of chips, and placed him into the rear of a cruiser.
It appeared to onlookers that the response by police was a complete overreaction - but now new video has emerged from the Syracuse Police Department which shows the young boy being driven back to his parents' home.
The footage also reveals that the youngster wasn't acting alone but with his three brothers, who had been frequenting the Dollar General on Butternut Street on Syracuse's North Side.
The officers also appeared to know the children from previous encounters.
'Some of the video is hard to watch,' Syracuse Police First Deputy Chief Joe Cecile said at the news conference. 'This morning, you saw more video from body cams of what occurred that day, a well-rounded story with a positive outcome.'

Maybe the public skools should be teaching ethical behavior ilo gender bending?
Back in my days of working loss prevention at a retail store it was not unusual to inform a parent that a small child was pocketing items. Many times they would ask us to “give the kid a talking to.” These days they would more likely sue the store.
Being put in a cop car is NOTHING compared to what my dad would have done once I got home.
Actions have consequences, regardless of age.
In the old, old days, they’d have your parents come get you and you’d face far harsher results.
/I hooked school. *once*
Future police resistor,
grabs for the officer’s gun , and that’s it
Just a wild guess by how the father reacted, but the over-reaction by the child seems to indicate that he isn’t getting disciplined at home. Stop, stop, don’t you know what stop means? Who says that to an authority figure?
He did have the choking accusation ready, thanks to all the race-baiting industry, although the officer’s hand was only on the nape of his neck.
Some idiot said something about him being hungry. Give me a break! There’s a huge difference between being hungry and starving to death. If he’s not being fed at home, why is he so plump?
After watching that video I’m convinced that this kid will end up hurting someone and probably multiple people. Probably end up a murderer.
I’m actually shocked he has a father in the home. I wonder if that is his father or mom’s latest boyfriend.
The article also said the police knew these kids already so I can see these kids gonna be trouble in the future.
First of all I’d like to say..I like your handle “toddausauras” that is so cool.
second yes he’s gonna be trouble. He really needs his butt busted.
I don’t know.
When I was very young my dad flat out told me that if I ever ran afoul of the law, I should not waste my “one call” on them.
No one was coming for me and I would have sit there and suck up the fruits of my crime, myself.
I was never completely sure if he actually meant that, literally, but I NEVER even remotely considered “testing” them.
I was a well behaved, respectful and law abiding kid.
Never got in trouble and attribute that his warning.
In dealing with police, “Yes sir” and “No sir” is all I would have ever said.
Not “Stop”.
I reckon I had a really crazy upbringing, compared to what passes for “parenting”, now.
That’s a rough neighborhood.
The kid was probably well experienced at acting like a hysterical victim.
It’s astounding how fast and how young a child can learn to turn on the water works when it suits them to manipulate adults. I saw it with my kids at ages far younger than 8.
Thank you! Definitely.
I told all of my kids that if they were ever in trouble, I would move Heaven and Earth to help them.
But don’t ever disgrace the family name or call me from jail; I will let you rot.
I’m the mean Mom. I mean what I say and I say what I mean.
So far, so good.
Probably; what future does he have?
I have no sympathy for shopkeepers who open businesses to harvest our tax dollars from the idle permanent underclass.
I believe this is called gaslighting.
oops wrong thread..
No, you’re the Good Mom.
A buddy and I got caught shoplifting back in 5th grade. He got the belt. I was grounded for a bit, but the worst was seeing the disappointment in my old man’s face and voice.
I never stole anything again. Even if I saw something on the ground I wouldn’t pick it up “It must belong to someone and they might come back to pick it up.”
It took me until my Junior year in High School to be respectful to police. I got pulled over and made some comments for getting pulled over for a minor traffic infraction. The cop was going to put me in jail overnight until the Sheriff walked in and gave him hell and cut me loose.
