Nancy Crampton-Brophy, now 71, has pleaded not guilty to gunning down her husband of 25 years, Daniel Brophy, in Portland in June 2018.
Daniel was found with gunshot wounds to his back and chest at the Oregon Culinary Institute where he taught shortly after arriving for work, local outlet KGW8 reported.
Crampton-Brophy, who told police she was at the couple’s home when the shooting unfolded, was arrested months later after detectives said she had been in the vicinity of the crime scene.

Note to self: If intending to commit a major crime, DO NOT write a novel about doing so.

There was an old Jack Lemmon comedy called "How to Murder Your Wife" where he plays a top tier comic strip writer who describes murdering his wife before she leaves him and disappears. In the movie, she was driving him crazy enough to consider it. To me it was implausible because his wife was a non-English speaking Virna Lisi who could cook. All he had to do was keep her from learning English and being Anglicized.

Well, she tried to murder her husband with style. A Komodo Dragon? I’ve never heard of any woman besides her trying that.

Have they questioned Sharon Stone? I want to be in the interrogation room when she is questioned (front row and center).

I'm sure there are Italian men sick of their wives.
I doubt a wedding conducted while one party was drunk and the officiant was drunk is really enforceable.

Verna Lisi was incredibly beautiful and endearing in that movie. Italy's answer to Marilyn Monroe.
Music by Neal Hefti, who also wrote the music to The Odd Couple a few years later, including the memorable theme song. He also wrote the Batman theme song, which probably took him about five minutes.

I think if my wife wrote that book, I’d leave. Not a good sign.

Apparently this will be an episode on See No Evil or Forensic Files.

3. No. She had to write the book first so she’d know how to do it. /sarc

My English teachers always said “Write about something you know.”
They never advised doing the opposite.

He was one of my teachers at culinary school. He taught Flavors of the World and had a wealth if knowledge about plant biology. He would also lead field trips to the coast to teach shellfish harvesting and how to prep/cook. Good guys as far as I know.

I believe Sue Grafton, prolific murder mystery writer, was inspired to write, “A is for Alibi,” her first novel by thoughts of murdering her husband. She didn’t kill him but wrote a ton of books after the first book success.

“An Oregon romance novelist who once penned an essay titled “How to Murder Your Husband””
Well, she did get that far. Perhaps she should have considered that she needed to also evade capture.
