It’s cruel to imply someone doesn’t think like a liberal. Sound like a compliment.

To be more precise, the settlement was (from what I read) for the total limits of Remington’s insurance. I am guessing that once the plaintiffs indicated they would accept that amount, Remington took the position that its insurers should give up their total limits or it would be “bad faith”,

Remington had nothing to do with this "settlement". It no longer exists as an organization. It was split up into components and sold off in bankruptcy.

The problem with the Sandy Hook shooting was the rifle used was owned by the shooter’s mother. If I recall correctly he killed her before heading to the school. How does Remington’s advertising to men have anything to do with the woman’s purchase.

I have been around firearms since the age of six. The firearms I had then were all made by Mattel.A few years later, I was part of the airbase’s Junior NRA group, handling target rifles, and semi-automatic pistols.

A few years latet, I was stepping off the plane at U-Tapao RTNAF, Thailand. For a few month’s rotational period, I was assigned an M-16 and a S&W Model 15. I served 3 years at that base.

All of this time, I remember NO such thing as a television ad for a firearm!

Being exposed to various firearms, for various purposes, I have my own choices, and reasons, separate from others.

I know my choices for black powder-flint and ball; for military surplus firearms; and for any purpose.

And yet the rifle was purchased by a woman and then stolen by her perp son after he killed her. So what does killing your mom and stealing her rifle have to do with marketing?

It would be a fabulous marketing tool and fit perfect for RAP music

No, it wasn’t their money. I was the insurance company’s money. To be brief, the insurance company at the time of the shooting was still liable and since the plaintiff’s lawyers had dragged the case out for 9 years, they made the decision to pay off rather than drag it out indefinitely and keep paying lawyer’s fees, which the insurance company had to pay up front. BTW, the plaintiffs would most certainly have lost in court. As it was, there was no disincentive for the plaintiffs to drop as they literally had nothing to lose.

By this reasoning, BLM is responsible for the deaths of 6 people at a Christmas parade in Wisconsin. Just say’in.

Ok so does the bad faith excess of limits concept still apply?

Anyway, your point is a good one about the b.s. spin on this being a precedent

So people, men and women, don’t actually have free will to decide their own actions and are victims of Madison Avenue style advertising as thoughtless automatons. Gotcha.

Plank learned all the leftist propaganda lines perfectly. Well,if she ever gets confronted by a rapist, druggie, or psycho-killer, I hope that she is armed with her column to ward him/them off.

Good luck with that you stupid leftist fool! Pick your funeral home early and avoid the rush!!!

Two things.

First of all, praise to all here who got it right and stated the fact that Remington had absolutely NOTHING to do with this “settlement” and has been found liable for nothing at at all!!! The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act has not been touched and is compromised ONLY in the wishful, totally twisted minds of the lying left, morons that they are!

Second, what in the world would make anyone, at this point,
read anything published at msnbc??? Life is much too short
to waste any of it that way! Time is more usefully spent watching ice melt.

Consider, they did not settle until Biden came to power.

The four insurance company CEOs are all supposed to be very "woke".

This is a political settlement, they were willing to sell out their stockholders for political capital.
