S.D. committee passes bill allowing doctors to prescribe ivermectin

(The Center Square) – Doctors would be able to prescribe ivermectin to patients with COVID-19 if a bill advanced by the South Dakota Health and Human Services Committee becomes law.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved ivermectin for treating the virus in humans or animals. The drug is approved "for human use to treat infections caused by some parasitic worms and head lice and skin conditions like rosacea," according to the FDA.

The drug is mainly used to treat horses and cattle with parasitic worms.

But some have touted the drug as an effective treatment for COVID-19. The bill would allow doctors to dispense it "without risking their licenses or livelihood," said the bill's sponsor, Rep. Phil Jensen of Rapid City.

Lawmakers heard from members of the medical community who said the drug came with risks. The amount of drug needed to be effective could severely damage a person's lung and kidneys, they said.

Jensen disagreed.

"It does work," Jensen told the committee. "There is no money in using an old proven drug when we have new expensive drugs available. You follow my line of thought?"

This is good, BUT it is two years overdue, it should include HCQ, and they should be available without a prescription since they are very safe.

We do not need the government protecting us from health freedom and forcing us to get permission from a doctor willing to risk his license to protect a stranger.

Medications are used "off label" all of the time without doctors being threatened with sanctions.

You have to ask why are Ivermectin and Hydroxy treated differently?

Our local hospital was prescribing it, last year, on the suspicion of the CCP virus.

It should also call for the AG to convene a grand jury to indict, try and potentially execute those who banned it in the first place.

Say the bill in South Dakota becomes state law. AFAIK, the Ivermectin will need to be imported and there is nothing to stop Customs from seizing shipments.

Just consider how pathetic our situation has become if we must be driven to smuggle needed medicines in defiance of our overlords.

“Allowing”? How about mandating it when requested by the patient!

I received my Ivermectin today from Push Health.
https://www.pushhealth.com

$64.99 for the virtual consultation fees for the prescription plus the pharmacy charge $75 + $8.95 for shipping.
The bottle has 5 pills in it..... 18MG each.
Total approx $150
Walgreens wanted $140 without insurance to start. Another pharmacy in northern California was found.

The bill shows the pills cost $5.36 for the medicine and the total is $7.85 that includes the gel caps!!
Healthcare is a racket!
