Schools that do not comply with the mandate are at risk of losing funding.

Rural Alsea School District defied the mandate. In response, the Oregon government withheld about $324,000 of federal COVID relief funding,

It's the new fuedal system. If you disobey the rules the princes, lords, dukes and such will come and take your cows and chickens. Pitchfork and torch time.

Maybe everyone in the Health Department lose their jobs and the office closed permanently. It is clear this is just political and has nothing to do with health.

It seems as though “education departments” are terrible stewards of education. I think it’s time for parents and entrepreneurs to organize and create their own education.

China had a huge industry of online tutoring. It apparently worked extremely well. This is because in China, the parents believe the only way to improve their relatively impoverished lives is to educate their children. As near as I can figure, in America parents give relatively little thought to educating their children probably because there are “education departments” to take that burden from them. That industry in China was destroyed because it caused parents to spend a substantial portion of their income exposing their children to non-state-oriented thinking and their money on things that did not increase the economy...like new refrigerators, vacations and new cars.

But in the US an on-line education industry could be the key to parent’s taking back control of educating their children from the “education departments” whose aims are about making good socialists.

This could all be facilitated by giving parents back their tax money to spend as they wished on education. The county to my north spends significantly more on a per student basis and has only a handful of “good” schools as measured by test scores. (Hint. The money goes to non-education budgets like teacher benefits.) My rural county spends much less but achieves all A and B schools by test score. There is a similar number of “of color” students in my rural county. The difference is the “education department” is really made up of locals rather than professional bureaucrats who got a lot of outside cash to get elected.

Does that mask mandate apply to school activities? It would really suck to see the school marching band wheezing in their masks while they silently parade by holding their instruments. School plays, debate and vocal music would be a total joke in masks. Isn’t it about time for an angry mob brandishing pitchforks and torches to descend on the state capital?

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

The state claims that “permanent” doesn’t really mean permanent, the rule can be rescinded in the future. What are the odds of the state giving up its power? In my mind zero.
