According to Herring’s office, on at least five occasions between March 2016 and February 2020, the Virginia Beach Police Department used forged documents they said were from the Virginia Department of Forensic Science to get the confessions or cooperation during interrogations.
The practice was revealed in April 2021 when an assistant commonwealth’s attorney asked the DFS to provide a certified copy of a forged document — which the DFS never created or was aware of.
Not only were the fraudulent documents used at least five times, but in at least one instance, a forged document was used in court as evidence. The documents generally showed a suspect’s DNA was found in connection with a crime. The documents included a seal, letterhead, contact information, and, on two documents, a signature of a fictitious DFS employee.

Yes, they should do a full audit, fire, charge, convict, and jail anyone that used fake documents in any manner.
Well, sure, if you tell the police it is perfectly fine to lie to people in order to trick them into confessing, then this is just a natural progression of that.
Always subpoena anyone who signs documents.
And yet Ben Crump still walks free after putting a fake Diamond Eugene in court.
The Supreme Court has already ruled that the police can lie to you. Was that a good ruling? I dunno. But I suppose the police think forged documents are just another form of lying.
Anyway, here are two handy steps to remember when being interrogated by the police.
Step 1: Say “I want a lawyer.” Say nothing else.
Step 2: Go back and repeat Step 1.

You're not supposed to talk to the police without an attorney, and if someone is stupid enough to do so, that's on them.
Convictions where fake documents were submitted to a court should be thrown out and the police and prosecutors responsible should be arrested and charged with perjury and criminal contempt.
Everyone knows is ok for cops to lie trying to get confessions.
Here’s what else you can to the cops: “I got nothing to say.”

More likely they’ll get seven days off with pay.

And, did it with full knowledge and cooperation of a corrupt State Attorney.
No, cops should be fired and prosecuted for lying. No exceptions. Include any and all management that knew or approved of the practice.
Somebody remind me again how the police are your friends.
They protect and service whoever signs their paychecks.
Remember that.

They already have because of the false evidence.

I contacted a victim who reported that a ring worth 5,000 dollars was stolen when she threw a party. She said it had been in her dresser upstairs. There was a bathroom that people used, and they needed to pass by the dresser when they used the bathroom. She had a suspect in mind and she had her phone number. She said all she wanted was to get the ring back and she would drop the matter.
I called the woman she suspected and I told her that a ring was stolen and that the victim wanted it back with no questions asked. I also told her that we had fingerprints. (This was the lie. I had no evidence.) I hung up and waited. A couple of minutes later the phone rang. The victim answered and the caller said that the ring would be returned to her.
