Question for those of you in the know: Is well-controlled high blood pressure considered a co-morbidity? By well controlled I mean it stays in the normal range with daily medication.
I would surmise that COVID could affect the ability to control it, but I’m not a medical type. Hopefully someone with medical knowledge can elaborate.
Anyone who said this in 2020 was anti-science.
” Is well-controlled high blood pressure considered a co-morbidity?”
I have controlled HBP and my doctor said it is even controlled.
From what I have read people with higher hbp even controlled have a greater chance of covid than people with moderate or lower levels of hbp that is controlled.
Same as diabetics that are controled by insulin are considered a co-morbidity.
I’m listing on my list of co-morbidities:
Co-morbidities:
1) Heart left ventricle (pumping at 55%),
2) Heart bundle blockage (5 stents),
3) Diabetes (Type 2, down from Type 1),
4) Hypertension (under control w/ Rx),
5) Weight (down from 265 to 165lbs),
6) COPD (under control w/ emergency inhaler),
7) Stage 2 Mild Kidney Disease (medication controlled).
FWIW, I don’t believe this stat, either.
I think this is another modified limited hangout.
I’m 63, on mild high blood pressure medicine and had the old school Covid a year ago.
Medium flu.
My understanding is it’s still a co-morbidity, but much less of one.
When I was in the hospital with the ro, my doctors agreed that controlling my bp, fighting to keep my blood glucose under 5.7, reducing my bmi under 30, keeping my Vitamin D up, all were vital to saving my life.
