Yes, you are correct about the chassis, but as I said the consignee’s use the containers for warehousing, and the chassis remain under the containers. It adds up to a lot of under utilized equipment, and disrupts the shipping cycle.
Consignee’s need to be more active in the shipping cycles, but they don’t care. It’s always somebody else’s problem.
Some warehouses in the Inland Empire are trying to do trans-loading to free up containers and move the freight by regular truck. Takes a lot of labor to unload the boxes.
