So I find out today I've been cancelled by "neighborly" NextDoor.
This is absurd - and perhaps I was "reported" (snitched) by the last jerk I replied to last week. He was telling everyone how there aren't many of us (around here - indeed) and we're just posting alot (not true) and WE SHOULD REPORT THEM AND GET THEM BANNED. I gave him a piece of my mind in public.

Yes, apparently I got banned by holding to my guns about masks and so on. No, I was not overly "conspiratorial" about vaxes, etc.
A whole section SPECIFICALLY about COVID and election "MISINFORMATION"! THIS STUFF NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE 2020!
This insanity has to stop!
The insanity which has to stop is the mindless attraction of Conservatives to leftist social media.
There are now alternatives and, frankly, I tried to warn everyone I could about ND when it first came out...to emotional, biased responses.
SITYS doesn’t quite do it. So, with all due respect, get over it and go join a Conservative site.
My hub monitors Nextdoor...likes to read the loonies statements and questions..simple entertainment
The next door app is a crap show. I dropped off a year ago after someone reported me to the county because I didn’t think people should have to wear masks everywhere they went. So County officials showed up at my office with all there paraphernalia. The people on Nextdoor wanted to go after a very old man that owned a little auto mechanic shop because he wasn’t wearing a mask and I defended him

I am starting to think there are a bunch here on the FR who will do the same thing. I have been visited by Law Enforcement twice in the past 6 months and I absolutely know the source was from HERE by the questions they asked.
I cancelled NextDoor the other day. I got so tired of the mob mentality.

I was permanently banned last year. Libs tied up most of the volunteer moderator slots as soon as it opened. We had one conservative but he was kicked off 5 to 1 vote.
That was his last vote.

What is the alternative to ND?
Any organization that references its work with Agencies (Big Government) and Non-Profits (Fraud) in its initial contact with you (Home Page) is a communist front. You were warned when you signed up.
Social media has taken away our individuality and given those who control the platform the ability to sway opinions. It is akin to the spiral opinion book of my generation, passed around and anonymously filled with comments, often negative, on class members. Based on what comments existed when your turn came around, you inserted a comment most likely influenced by what others said. Most wanted to join the herd thereby, in their minds, increasing their popularity by being a member of the majority. It was a bad thing then and is a bad thing now, magnified many times over by technology.
I got kicked off NextDoor, too. Mods demanded I publish my full name. I told them a psychotic threatening Stalinazi loon would uncover my address and I didn’t feel safe in doing so. They said I should try to “make amends” with lunatic in private. I told them no. They kept him, suspended me.
I just read the rules there. It suddenly hit me that you can use it against “them”. That is, when someone posts about the need for masking up or getting the vaccine, report them for “misinformation” and, if necessary, cite sources that contradict their claims.
i.e. fight fire with fire.
If you are on Nextdoor and have not been banned yet,
you have no business telling your kids that you did not remain silent.
Nextdoor bans “thought crime” against the authorized narrative,
even faster than Twitter.

Wow! I have to ramp up my cynicism when posting. I have yet to receive a visit.
Got banned myself a couple of years back (mid terms 2018). The general rule was no politics or political activism allowed, though they were considering making a specific page for such banter.
Of course, this only applied to conservatives - The left wingers let it rip with all kinds of “meet the candidate - Stop Trump Now slogans. Some of their comments got into generally insulting “anyone” who could have voted for Trump.
I shot back at one guy, calling him an “obvious activist” who should learn how to follow the rules, or at least debate facts.
I was offered an opportunity, if I promised to be good, for a reactivation but when I saw they were based in San Fran, I said no thanks.
The funniest part is that my wife tried to sign up just about a month ago, and our address is still banned from joining.

I remember that spiral notebook as well. We called it the Slam Book.
