Cruise with 55 COVID cases will remain at sea until this weekend Ship set to return to Fort Lauderdale on Sunday after skipping stops in Curaçao and Aruba Published: December 23, 2021, 9:06 AM Updated: December 23, 2021, 9:12 AM

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A cruise out of South Florida will skip two ports after 55 people onboard tested positive for COVID-19.

Royal Caribbean International confirmed Thursday that its Odyssey of the Seas ship will not stop in Curaçao or Aruba as planned.

“The decision was made together with the islands out of an abundance of caution due to the current trend of COVID-19 cases in the destinations’ communities as well as crew and guests testing positive on board — 55 crew members and guests, representing 1.1% of the onboard community,” Royal Caribbean said in a statement. “The cruise sailed with 95% of the onboard community fully vaccinated.”

The ship left Port Everglades on Saturday for an 8-night Caribbean sailing. It plans to remain out at sea until returning to Fort Lauderdale as scheduled on Sunday.

Royal Caribbean says all 55 people who tested positive are fully vaccinated and mildly symptomatic or asymptomatic. The cruise line declined to say how many of those people are passengers and how many are crew.

“We continue to monitor their health. Close contacts were also identified and placed in quarantine to be monitored for 24 hours prior to testing,” their statement said.

On Saturday, another Royal Caribbean ship, Symphony of the Seas, arrived back in Miami after 48 people tested positive for COVID-19.

This is a short first article on the outbreak. I think we can expect the press to jump on these outbreaks on cruise ships and see more articles in the next few days, especially after these ships return to port.

And of course, other ships will develop virus problems. -Tom

I say we take off and nuke the ship from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

The outbreak on cruise ships at sea has stated and it will be interesting to see how the Lines who need money and passengers respond.

The press certainly will jump on these outbreaks. -Tom

“Cruise With 55 COVID”

Is that the 55 and over COVID cruise? I don’t think that will catch on as a marketing slogan.

Here’s my suggestion for the “Cruise Industry”:

They should advertise that all passengers will receive a complimentary, 10 day prescription of Ivermectin. The prescriptions will be dispensed upon entering international water.

They should advertise that all crew members are taking Ivermectin as a prophylactic.

Maybe Cruises to nowhere will become a major thing..

55 passengers and the rest of the ship can’t go to the scheduled ports of call..

That’s like turning the car around because one of your kids is acting up while the rest are behaving..

Cruising seems like the worst way to spend money on vacations right now

That is what will cause a decline in passengers, as the Cruise Lines are trying to bring more ships into operation. -Tom

"Sloop John B" by the Beach Boys

We come on the sloop John B
My grandfather and me
Around Nassau town we did roam
Drinking all night
Got into a fight
Well I feel so broke up
I want to go home

So hoist up the John B's sail
See how the mainsail sets
Call for the Captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I wanna go home, yeah yeah
Well I feel so broke up
I wanna go home

The first mate he got drunk
And broke in the Cap'n's trunk
The constable had to come and take him away
Sheriff John Stone
Why don't you leave me alone, yeah yeah
Well I feel so broke up I wanna go home

So hoist up the John B's sail
See how the mainsail sets
Call for the Captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I wanna go home, let me go home
Why don't you let me go home
(Hoist up the John B's sail)
Hoist up the John B
I feel so broke up I wanna go home
Let me go home

The poor cook he caught the fits
And threw away all my grits
And then he took and he ate up all of my corn
Let me go home
Why don't they let me go home
This is the worst trip I've ever been on

So hoist up the John B's sail
See how the mainsail sets
Call for the Captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I wanna go home, let me go home
Why don't you let me go home

This has gone from the so called ‘pandemic of the Unvaccinated’ to the Vindication of the Unvaccinated ...

True enough.

They can lie, and since there are more vaccinated than unvaccinated, they will still overlook the fact that the vaccines don't work, even with boosters, and the vaccinated can spread the virus.

It will be difficult to get the vaccinated to understand they are as vulnerable to the virus as the unvaccinated.

So the vaccinated placate themselves with a feeling that if they get the virus , they won't get it as bad as an unvaccinated person. Who knows for sure whether that is true or not? And why not use therapeutics if you get the virus?-Tom
