NBA Basketball: Still Unvaccinated Kyrie Irving making stunning Brooklyn Nets return

Kyrie Irving finally is headed back to the Nets, at least on a part-time basis.

The unvaccinated Big 3 guard has begun the process to return to the COVID-hampered squad as a player eligible to participate in road games outside New York, according to multiple reports.

Irving hasn’t played this season because of his refusal to comply with New York’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates, but The Athletic reported earlier this week that there was “renewed optimism” for a potential return at some point this season.

With Irving barred from participating in home games at Barclays Center, Nets GM Sean Marks declared in October that Irving would not practice with them or play games on the road “until he is eligible to be a full participant” because “we’re not looking for partners that are going to be half-time.”

Nevertheless, Marks, Nets owner Joe Tsai, head coach Steve Nash and key players are “fully supportive” of Irving’s return, even if he’s not eligible to play at home, according to ESPN.

“After discussions with our coaches, players and staff, the organization has decided to have Kyrie Irving re-join the team for games and practices in which he is eligible to participate,” Marks said in a statement. “We arrived at this decision with the full support of our players and after careful consideration of our current circumstances, including players missing games due to injuries and health and safety protocols.

“We believe that the addition of Kyrie will not only make us a better team but allow us to more optimally balance the physical demand on the entire roster.”

I actually want to see him play. He is one of the most entertaining players in basketball. His handles are amazing...

The irony. A COVID infested, fully vaxxed team, turns to its unvaxxed star.

Funny how Irving, one of the remaining players who is unvaccinated..is the only NBA player who is actually healthy enough to play..everyone else has tested positive for covid, and all are fully vaccinated..ironic isnt it..I tell ya, the reason why this vaccine was created was NOT to stop the virus, it was to mutate it, so that you would need constant jabs to make it stop, more jabs, means more dinero for big pharma

If the Nets need more help on their roster, maybe Kyrie can bring Uncle Drew with him on the road. :-P

Kyrie is a disruption to any team. They must be hurting if they are going to let him come back.

Celtics fans don’t like him. And didn’t find his LeBron-lite attitude. He was supposed to be a leader. All he did was bitch and moan.

Kyrie Irving is annoying because he supports BLM and all that crap (for the record, black lives matter but I am against the BLM movement which is leftist). But I can respect him on this issue despite I have gotten the jab myself. I’m with President Trump in this. You get the jab. Or you don’t. Let’s get on with life. That’s all there is to it. None of this totalitarian crap we are seeing in the blue states.

“...is the only NBA player who is actually healthy enough to play..everyone else has tested positive for covid, “

No. They’re perfectly healthy. They can play but aren’t allowed to based on policy.

They did not “test positive for Covid”, which is a disease, a sickness. They tested positive for the Sars2 virus via PCR test.

That doesn’t mean they are unhealthy or sick.

Your point is still good about their irrationality and futility trying to “fight the pandemic”.

Irving can't play now because of NBA 'covid' protocols. Players cannot return to play until they have isolated for 10 days or returned multiple negative test results in a specified time period.

Is it really fair to let Irving play, considering that he’s a PURE BLOOD and thus the others don’t stand a chance against him?
