This is an introduction to a movie reviewer who goes by the name The Critical Drinker. I thought there might be a few of my fellow Freepers who would appreciate his reviews.

I’ve been following him for a few years now. He’s great! Totally trashes woke culture every chance he gets.

Modern entertainment cant handle an essential part of the Heroes Journey, Character growth.
They either cannot relate to the moral battle or the growth in self-responsibility of a character for faults, so they paper over those except when it serves a woke purpose.
Its what happens when an immoral person tries to describe heroic actions. They cannot because they have closed that portion of their mind.

I personally think that even well made superhero films are a sign of the infantilization of our culture, but then I'm just an old snob that doesn't mind subtitles or movies like "My Dinner with Andre".
I vet all my movie choices through his reviews. He never fails.

And, I am still traumatized by being forced to watch “The Piano”...

Been following Critical Drinker for awhile. I don’t agree with everything he says and his schtick gets old, but he’s right that Hollywood and popular entertainment generally have succumbed to turning mass entertainment into mass leftist propaganda and indoctrination.
Some will say Hollywood and media have always been tools of the left, but now the left has complete control of the product from conception to distribution, with China’s influence thrown into the bargain.
I just discovered The Critical Drinker on YouTube a few months back, and he has excellent commentary on the entertainment industry and the current social fabric.
There's countless articles coming out about why such-and-such hit tv show/film from the 90s-00s is "problematic" now. Typically, due to racism, misogyny, or the various LGBTQMAP-phobic complaints.
I figured, the problem as these new woke critics see it wasn't that Tony Soprano was racist, or "Friends" was too white. It's that viewers weren't troubled by it. That's what they really don't like.
