A man was left with an enormous bill when his blind date brought 23 members of her family with her to test his generosity.
However, her rather bizarre tactic well and truly backfired (unsurprisingly) when her date known as Mr. Lui, 29, did a runner.
The rather ambitious singleton was then left to foot the bill herself, and at a cool $3,100 we’re sure she was less than pleased. In a hope to impress his date, Mr. Lui had agreed to pay for the meal, not realizing that her entire extended family would be joining them.

RUN AWAY!!!!!!
Exactly.
Dodged that bullet.
Smart
First date and she pulls something like that? I would run too. She could have just been testing him to see if he was a pushover.
I’ve heard of women trying this crap with their female friends, i.e. bringing their friends along during a date to get a free meal.
I’d ask if they will also join in the bedroom festivities as well.
On my way out I would have told the waiter to send the table 10 bottles of the finest champagne!
And he REALLY needs to tell his mother to STAY OUT of his dating life.
Dodged the whole magazine in that case.
He was very lucky as this woman was going to cost him every cent.
Sounds like a Geico commercial. “Nope, I’m outa here.” Mr. Liu is one smart dude. That was just the beginning. There would have been no end to the demands on his “generosity”.
Double barrel spread.
I said a-Lui, Lui, “Oh, no!”
Said, “I gotta go now...”
Its a win-win for the guy. Now, when mom again bothers him about finding a steady girl and getting married, he's got something to throw back at her. Not that it will deter a chinese mother though - but its better than nothing.
I seldom believe a story set in the “eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang.”
$3,100 for Chinese food ... in Red China?! That’s well over $100 per person. He could have taken them to Kentucky Fried Chicken and feed the whole operation for under $500.
Well, it would certainly trust my patience. It would also help with my decision to not only not date her again, but cut this one short as soon as the third person sat down at the table.
If this equality thingy is true shouldn’t the woman pay for a meal.
