The head of the Baltimore Police union on Friday encouraged officers not to reveal their vaccination status ahead of a city mandate scheduled to go into effect next week, citing a lack of communication between city officials and the bargaining unit.
“It is understandable that our members have questions about a policy with so little information being provided by the city. Until the city responds to our right to bargain these issues, or the courts intervene, I suggest you do nothing in regard to revealing your vaccination status as it is outlined in the city’s policy,” wrote Sgt. Mike Mancuso, president of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 3, in a letter to union members Friday.
Beginning Monday, Baltimore will require its 14,000 employees to get a coronavirus vaccine or face weekly testing for COVID-19. This week police spokeswoman Lindsey Eldridge said that about 64% of the department’s 3,000 employees have been vaccinated, but the department didn’t provide a breakdown between the 2,500 sworn officers and 500 civilian personnel.
City Labor Commissioner Deborah Moore-Carteron met Friday afternoon with FOP leaders, Commissioner Michael Harrison, and representatives from the city’s Law Department and Human Resources to discuss concerns about the vaccination mandate, said Cal Harris, a spokesman for Mayor Brandon Scott, in a statement Friday.

Mancuso said the union’s attorney’s have filed an unfair labor practice with the Office of the Labor Commissioner, and threatened additional legal action in effort to delay the implementation of this policy.

A huge percentage of the police do not want to be vaccinated, so Lightfoot is letting them go, as of yesterday, I think.
Making a greater mess of a mess that used to be a clean and relatively safe city. People are fleeing the state.
Yes, let’s dump on the cops for a year and a half and then impose vax requirements...that’s the ticket to a robust police force that can help stop crime in its tracks! /s

This is really good advice. A first step my employer just put out is something on our intranet to click whether vaccinated, partially, or not, with some associated troubles if you don’t answer. Its connected to CMS data I’m told. Big red flag.
I’m so disgusted. And will soon be losing my job as a registered nurse.

Fight. There are many ways to fight - get a new job, get an accommodation, get them to sign a liability waiver, work through your union, sue, get an attorney…whatever works for you. But fight in some level. We all have to fight.
Not the shots. The mandates. My focus is on fighting the mandates.

Unions frequently behave badly. But yes, you’re right. And a union leader is often the only person willing to tell you the truth. Mayors, company presidents, etc. - those folks are all about image. They care nothing about the truth.
Don’t forget the 11 million he spent on cheap CoVid test kits from Korea and tried to sell off to other Governors.I bet Korea and the Biden puppet masters are happy with an abundance of lockdown supplies.
