A handful of people on rooftops with suppressed Ruger 10/22s would discourage that shit. Knees and elbows.
This sounds like the same policies Holder gave to the Mayor of Baltimore before the riots.
Portland needs to hire Capitol Police officer Lt. Michael Byrd...he shot Ashli Babbitt just for climbing through a window frame...
Give him a machine gun and he’ll take care of all these hoodlums smashing storefront windows, lighting dumpsters on fire and causing at least $500,000 in damage...
Oh, wait.......
“people can still face consequences later.”
Hear that everyone? If the “legal system” doesn’t inflict consequences then it’s up to honest folks to do it.

Sadly you are right and this always makes me fight the urge to lump people together based on any similarity. There are good and bad people across the spectrum and police are no different. Most police I know are conservative guys who love the country but I have met some that were very cocky and seemed to want to knock heads in.
“Does that mean we are now like a lawless city?” Linda Witt asked“
Well, Linda, try firing a gun into that violent raging destructive lawless mob and see how lawless your city is…
The town mothers and fathers did not stop the riots/looting/burning/assaults/killing last year. They helped plan it and gave them a free pass to go ahead. No one was prosecuted afterwards.
So don’t be surprised if something similar happens this year.
I can see all future westerns and kung-fu movie heroes borrowing that line. Just Gary Cooper in High Noon.
Even though I live in WA State, there is a reason that I have an Oregon Concealed Pistol License.
If I am to go into a lawless city or a lawless state and can’t count on the police to protect me or my family, I want to have options.
A long time ago, I lived in a County where the County Prosecutor said he needed substantial more budget. The County Council publicly said no. The Prosecutor said that they would not prosecute any property damage crimes. The Sheriff said that if the Prosecutor would not refer any property damage crimes to trial, he would not send any officers to calls for property damage, like burglary, breaking and entering, car theft, etc.
There was a huge public outcry, until a very well off area of the country started to run adds in the local paper asking residents to attend vigilance committee organizational meetings.
The Prosecutor and the County Council worked with the Sheriff and figured a compromise that allowed law enforcement and justice to continue. There is absolutely nothing that scares elected officials like armed citizens willing to use their firearms in the defense of themselves. They will it as a thin line between armed violence against criminal and against elected officials.
Just saying.
Welcome to Dodge, Miss Linda.

Nope.
I can’t say exactly who did, but one of our local radio hosts (libertarian type conservative) used the term all the time. (He sadly died of cancer several years ago.)
The Wild West lives again, eh Linda?
A thread recently included a poster who stated he had permits from every state he “needed to”.
I think he said he got a Utah permit to cover a majority of states! Awesome!
and lets not forget....their votes have all been mail in for ages....rats always find a way to be the majority....
The serious divide in the Oregon vote, sometimes as close as 47% Rep. to 53% Dems, is why our state should push for proportional vote. Not a winner takes all state.
Time to burn and vandalize the homes of state legislators. Bet they’ll repeal the “law”.
Is there any group of people that don't respond to incentives?
The vast majority of LEOs began doing it because they want to help people. Once you're 10-15 years in and you have your pension on the line, and not a lot of other job prospects you're qualified for, you have to make business decisions and don't have the luxury of operating out of what you know in your heart is right.
Most LEOs would say it's IS a bad deal, but they're not in the position to do anything about it.
Lawlessness in Germany was a problem caused by more actors than the Nazis.
All factions across the political spectrum had militias and used them.
There were numbers of armed revolts, the proclamation of a Bavarian Soviet, Rhenish separatists, the Spartacist Revolt in Berlin, the Kapp Putsch, Freikorps brigades contesting control of border regions, demobbed soldiers without jobs, raging inflation, food shortages.
The Nazis were just one more faction of trouble makers for most of the Weimar period.
