Previews looks great.
But then, lots of previews look great.
You laugh but it shows you don’t actually know anything about the show past the talking points of people who never watched. Heck they even talk in the show about how stupid the claims of stereotypes in mob movies are.
I finally got around to watching it this year. I watched an episode a day for about three months. And I think it’s the best TV show ever made.
But it’s sad to think that I believe Gandolfini literally gave his life for that role.

Hard to tell. He was always a big boy. He was certainly not encouraged to lose weight while on the show. But I don’t think he would have anyway.
You can definitely see the difference between Season 1 and the Final Season, even his breathing became much more heavy.
What makes that scene in the show funny is that the conversation is happening between 2 Italian characters that are shrinks.
The level of whining from people who don’t know what they’re talking about shows it’s not a double standard. The only real difference is that mob movies are consistently profitable enough that they just take the griping as free advertising.

Yeah, his health had definitely suffered. But it’s the path he was on. You look him up in True Romance and he was already big but not as big as he was by Sopranos.
It’s not a double standard. The complaints happen. The ADL whines incessantly. But how often do any of the various genres that get complained about really change? They don’t. Partly because these things happen for a reason. The biggest of which being that law abiding citizens don’t make for good drama. Nobody is gonna make a tense dramatic movie about a baker of any race who’s really just a baker. Cause bakers don’t do anything dramatic.
If there’s any double standard it’s actually Jewish mobsters. Nobody complains about them in movies or TV shows. Ever hear anybody complain about Hesh in the Sopranos? Nope. Nobody complained about Bugsy. Nobody complained about Hyman Roth in Godfather II. Nobody complains about Jewish mobsters.

So let me make this simple; it’s 2021 and in your opinion, there’s no double standard in the way the media, hollywood, even politicians approach or view something such as the Soprano’s versus and movie, show, sports teams that center on native Americans? Any movie, TV show that “culturally appropriates” blacks, latinos, minorities, etc??

Do the people who complain about those things complain about all of it? Generally yes. So no double standard. The only question is ever if anybody listens. And that is always about the Benjamins. People had been complaining about the Redskins name since the 60s. But wasn’t until FedEx decided to pull money that anything changed. Don’t pay attention to the noise, that’s just noise, and means nothing.
