A 1936 novel by America's first winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature is strikingly prophetic now.
Sinclair Lewis’s novel of 1935, It Can’t Happen Here, was published amid the rise of fascism in Europe. The book is about the political career of fictional Buzz Windrip, who is elected President in 1936, defeating FDR with a campaign promising a return to traditional values, drastic social and economic reforms (he promises every American $5k). Once elected, he becomes a totalitarian tyrant complete with his own paramilitary force called the Minute Men!
Windrip is Lewis’s version of an American Hitler and/or Mussolini. But consider the parallels with the current occupant of the Oval Office. Windrip outlaws dissent (consider the Biden administration’s partnership with big tech to censor opposing opinions). He, Windrip, imprisons his critics just as Biden has jailed anyone present at the Capitol on January 6. Biden has his own Minute Men, the FBI as well a couple of other paramilitary groups in service of his agenda – Antifa and BLM. They are his shock troops that, like Windrip’s thugs, terrorize his opponents, freedom-loving, independent thinking Americans.
Like Biden, Buzz Windrip abrogated the rights of civilians and divided the nation into “administrative sectors” to be managed by federal “Corpo” authorities and enforced by his Minute Men. Pelosi is now installing branches of the Capitol Police throughout the country to seek out perceived threats to members of Congress. The similarities to Lewis’s two-dimensional dictator and the Biden regime are chilling.

This won’t ever happen here. /s
Excellent writing parallels
But wait, Pelosi is setting up Capital police around the Country? What, her own personal Gestapo?
What it will take to overcome this oppression is organized mass non-compliance. Patriots can take cues from Obama, the community organizer.
All politics starts at the local level. Some Small business owners in every community need to start taking leadership to organize all willing businesses to not enforce mask mandates, lockdowns, or vaxx cards. Once a majority do this, enforcement by authorities will be futile.
Until then, protests do little. Civil disobedience, mass non-compliance is the key, and this will happen only when they organize.
Become a democrat and you can sleep with Chinese spies; You can bribe foreign governments with 1b dollar payments; You can burn cities, loot stores, destroy historic statues, defy law enforcement; Pimp children: kill babies; steal elections.
But if you are not a democrat, you damned well not even jaywalk!
It ISN'T happening, it HAS happened.
All this is true, but that organizing will have to be backed by solidarity.
When the civil disobedience begins, the response by the authorities and their leftist cohorts will be to target people wealthy enough to be prosperous but not wealthy enough to defend themselves against legal attack (think "bakers who refuse to make pro-homosexual cakes"). Respond to boycotts with buycotts (Chick-Fil-A, Goya); be willing to have a physical presence when the authorities come to take people, realizing that every act we take is going to be twisted by the media and the authorities, and be infiltrated by the left (cf. "January 6"). Do them anyway. It will take the kind of stick-togetherness that we see in our enemy, and it will inevitably end in some incident of violence somewhere, but we will have to expect it and be ready for it. This is a sitzkrieg, and we have to stop acting like Neville Chamberlains.
Much like “1984” “Atlas Shrugged”, “Animal Farm”, “Lord of the Flies”, “Camp of the Saints” etc , intended as cautionary tales; this book too is being used as an instruction manual by the Democrats.
History repeats itself and rhymes.
What, her own personal Gestapo?
—
No the Gestapo was disbanded/destroyed 75 years ago; she’s positioning herself as the head of the unannounced Ministry of State Security, modeled on China’s ministry of the same name or Guoanbu in Mandarin. Whatever the Gestapo were, the Guoanbu is far worse and much better at enforcing State directives; it deals with over 1.3 billion people while the other dealt with a few millions, at most.
The book does sound like typical Leftist projection. It wins a Nobel prize, too, so some things never change.
FDR, no saint was he, accomplished much of the totalitarian power Lewis was trying to project onto the Right.
“If fascism ever comes to America it will come in the name of liberalism.”
- Ronald Wilson Reagan
Never again can the American people sit back and wonder how in the world good German citizens allowed the atrocities of Hitler and the Nazi Party back in the 1930’s.
When we ourselves are at the very same point in our history when we are watching freedoms and liberties be taken away.
Katherine Austin Fitz has a great idea which is to only use cash on Fridays. It seems like a small thing, but if enough people do it, it will start to break the financial crutch of the police state.
Perhaps people should read this also. It is old but still relevant.

Lewis won the Nobel Prize in 1930, five years before It Can’t Happen Here was published.
Sorry, I misread the excerpt. I wonder if that changes my reasoning - nope.
In China, people were forced to undergo "struggle sessions", where they were bullied and humiliated into confessing their "capitalist thought" or "right deviationism". Here, people are bullied and humiliated into confessing their "white privilege".
There, books which did not fit the narrative were thrown into bonfires. Here, books which do not fit the narrative are "cancelled" out of libraries and classrooms.
Here, at least not yet, opponents of CRT are not thrown into prison work camps, although they can, and are, fired from their jobs.
