Ha! You’re right. Your post is a good warning about what’s out there.
And I’ll bet that 99% of Freepers are aware of at least some of these scams. But unfortunately we are but a small slice of the total population.
It's a sneaky way of getting people to Free Republic. They will Google 'please text me' and end up reading this thread
