i’ll stick with my 88 f250 with the fuel injected fuel efficient 460v8...
According to this Sandy guy only the high-end Platinum level is worth considering, and that will set you back $90K. And, this only has a 5-1/2’ truck bed, along with a towing range of 100 mi.
This sounds like a cool toy that the wealthy will want to add to their collection. But Ford is making a huge mistake if it is trying to target the typical working man market.
Is this the truck that Biden did a commercial for? Hard pass.
Don’t worry. The Biden administration will require all apartment complexes to install charging stations.
Pullin’ a 5th wheel—————75 miles?
And watch people fight over the few that are installed.
Thinkin’ no rise in the cost of lightning bolts?
Almost like none of these dumbasses have ever tried to perform ANY sort of task in REAL cold weather. There’s a reason that E Rice Burroughs wrote Tarzan of the Jungle and NOT Tarzan of the Tundra. The stoopidnuss is mind boggling. AKA bidenish.
Haha, fuel efficient my ass—I had one of those. It had two gas tanks for a reason!
Lemmesee, under a full load range is ~75 miles. Time to charge when battery is drained ~14 hours. Drive 75 miles, charge 14 hours.
How long would it take to drive cross country pulling a 5th wheeler or a contractor’s trailer loaded with tools and equipment? How about towing a 35’ fishing boat a couple of states over to your favorite lake or river? What if you do not live in the pool table flat middle America?
“... a cool toy that the wealthy...” And, think how awesome they’ll feel for being “net zero carbon/non polluters” and all the bragging rights at the country club.
mine has two gas tanks for the same reason...
it was cheaper to drive six months ago...
I agree as I am a Ford person myself. However some day when they come up with a battery from which you can get perhaps 400 miles and will recharge at least within about 5 (five) minutes I may reconsider, as electric has many advantages. But as it is right now, no way. Besides the way either diesel or gas engines have been refined as well as made cleaner, I see no reason not to use them.
It is said that to fully charge a Tesla at 120 volts takes 4 to 8 days. The Ford would be expected to take longer.
Ford wants you to believe you can fully recharge the standard range Lighting in 10 hours (on 240 volts) or 14 hours (on 120 volts).
That's BS.
And there is a serious limit to the number of electric cars that can be charged up in a city neighborhood. The grid will not support all these electric cars they are pushing.
What do you want, heat, AC, or a car to drive to work. Pick one!
I’ll consider it when atomic batteries are an option.
Nobody charges a Tesla on 110. You normally install a 220 charger.
A 120 volt, 15 amp, outlet would recharge only 25 kw in 14 hours.
It was brutally cold.
Some mornings, they had to light a small fire under the crankcase to warm the oil enough to get the diesel engine to turn over.
Oh, and there are no charging stations in the back of beyond...
A question was raised about charging the Lightning at 120 volts and Ford’s ridiculous claims about charge times.
That’s what I responded to.
