Tom Cruise has returned his three Golden Globes statues amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
Cruise won the best actor honor in 1990 for Born on the Fourth of July and in 1997 for Jerry Maguire, as well as a best supporting actor award in 2000 for Magnolia.
Earlier today, NBC announced that it would not be airing the 2022 iteration of the Golden Globes. Said the network in a statement: “We continue to believe that the HFPA is committed to meaningful reform. However, change of this magnitude takes time and work, and we feel strongly that the HFPA needs time to do it right.”
The backlash began after an L.A. Times report detailing that the organization counted zero Black journalists among its then-87 members. Last week, the HFPA’s membership voted to approve a proposal of reforms aimed at addressing its lack of diversity and other ethics issues, but many in Hollywood, including Time’s Up and a coalition of PR Firms, noted that the reforms do not go far enough.

Gosh, that’s a shame (snigger)...
never liked him....mediocre actor at best...naw....crappy actor.
I guess I understand what’s happening, but I don’t understand what’s happening. “The foreign press has shoddy hiring practices. Therefore, I will return this award I won 30 years ago.”
Yeah, that makes sense.
I liked “Edge of Tomorrow”, a humorous SciFi movie. Cool aliens.
He was horribly miscast in “Reacher”.
So he returns the globes and keeps the cash. I’d say that’s a hell of a deal.
If Hollywood wants to denounce white culture they need to stop using that racist electricity!
Pia Zadora is keep her Golden Globe award.
This is very bizarre.
I take it that Tom Cruise feels the need, to bend over backwards to prove that he is liberal.
But what’s up with punishing this organization of foreign press, when at the same time, NBC is saying they feel they are devoted to change, but at the same they won’t broadcast the 2022 ceremony because of the alleged sins of this foreign press association. How does any of this make sense.
She had some good assets.
she had 2 nice globes.
Has he done anything worthy of note since “Risky Business”?
Cruise was good in “Jack Reacher”; the others, not so much.
Lol, like anyone cares what that puffed-up runt does or thinks. Mediocre actor at best, has to carry around a milk crate to stand on whenever he is filmed. He’s constantly battling his small man complex and his latent homosexual tendencies.
He should give back all the money he made too.
Somehow, I doubt that will happen.
Name someone who has starred in more top movies...ever.
